Aaron Rodgers and his contact drama seem to be a never-ending tale. The quarterback has announced that he will be returning to the Green Bay Packers next season. But a deal has not been signed yet. Being guilty of wanting to be in the limelight, A-Rod has found himself as the center of attraction once again.

Will Aaron Rodgers return to the Green Bay Packers?

Towards the end of the 2021 regular season, Aaron Rodgers said that he would entertain offers from other franchises. He has been the talk of the town for almost the entire offseason. There were rumors about him considering retirement as well. But nothing really came out of it. On Twitter, the athlete announced that he will return to the Packers for his 18th season. But the reports about him signing a contract with the franchise are bogus.

“Just wanted to clear some things up; YES I will be playing with the [Packers] next year,” wrote Rodgers. “However, reports about me signing a contract are inaccurate, as are the supposed terms of the contract I “signed”. I’m very excited to be back.”

The most exciting figure in the league is perhaps trying to hold the Packers hostage. Green Bay has previously said that they want their franchise quarterback to return. The team will do anything for him. Maybe Rodgers is trying to stretch their patience. 

How long does Green Bay have to sign Rodgers?

If they want to reduce the salary cap, the Packers need Rodgers to sign a contract with them before Wednesday 4:00 p.m. ET. The salary cap will go down from $46.66 million. The reports for Aaron Rodgers signing a hefty contract and becoming the highest-paid QB in the league were untrue. But if he is holding the franchise hostage, the quarterback might end up getting a high-end contract. Both sides have not yet officially agreed to any terms.
