Jordan Love has had the patience of a saint while waiting for his turn to shine. But it has been a lot of waiting. Love has spent three seasons warming the bench while former MVP Aaron Rodgers took charge of the Packers’ squad. The juxtaposition of Jordan Love’s situation is very interesting. Rumors surrounding Love’s potential exit from the Packers have fans questioning the motive behind the decision.

Some believe that Love’s talents would be put to better use elsewhere. Others think that it would be a foolish move for the Packers to let go of Love, in case Rodgers isn’t around. Love is perhaps the Packers’ safest bet at ensuring some semblance of a stable future. After being with the franchise and learning its ins and outs, there’s no doubt that Love could be an adequate replacement once Rodgers exits the picture. But is that what the young QB desires?
Jordan Love may have had enough of bench warming
In total, Love has thrown 80 passes for 597 yards in his career. He has three touchdowns and three interceptions to his name. But one cannot blame the quarterback for his lack of an impressive resume. Love has spent the majority of his time at Green Bay as a non-starter. Living in legendary QB Aaron Rodgers‘ shadow may not have helped his case either. While there is a lot that Love could pick up from Rodgers, a better opportunity elsewhere may seem appealing at the moment.
Packers insider Jason Wilde’s notion that Love will request a trade next season stirred conversation online. Insider Jordan Schultz also opined that Green Bay could have limited time with the quarterback if he cannot start for them. Love’s nondescript “We’ll see,” when questioned about asking for a trade casts a hint at what fans can expect in the future.

What do the Packers think about Love’s abilities?
The QB’s frustration is understandable. He hasn’t seen much action during his time with the Packers. And, how could he? Matt LaFleur’s offense has been very dependent on Rodgers in the execution of his vision. With Rodgers signing a $150 million extension, any hopes of Love taking charge have faded into oblivion.
With the Packers currently at 5-8, their chances at a shot to the postseason range from highly unlikely to nonexistent. If Love is indeed requesting a trade, he would likely do so before the draft. Despite not seeing much action, the Packers have appreciated Love’s abilities. Management and coaches have spoken of the improvements he’s made during his time there. But will he linger with the Packers or find his path out? That remains to be seen.
