The Salvation Army’s efforts in the Green Bay area are not unfamiliar to the locals. And the Green Bay Packers joined in the celebration and fundraising accompanied by quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers and Co raised a considerably significant sum through donations and autograph signings. And good luck should follow given that Rodgers single-handedly out-donated everyone else.

December 13 was Packers Give Back Day. And it’s a day of giving and celebrating. The staff takes a break from the facilities and enjoys festival food stalls across Green Bay and the one situated at the Bay Park Square Mall. All the $15,000 collected at these Red Kettle locations would go directly to the Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign. And the Packers matched that amount. So that brought it to $30,831.

The back-to-back reigning NFL MVP is currently on a 3-year $150 million extension at the Packers after signing before this season. However, his donations have gone down since the 2020 Christmas Give Back Day festivities. In 2020, the autograph signings which ran through November and December raised close to $30,000 and A-Rod matched the amount. And it’s not just Rodgers who is to blame. The Packers didn’t match the $23,867 Red Kettle donations and went with their stipulated $15,000. The total amount raised in 2020 was a whopping $97,127.

The Salvation Army Red Kettle donations are made every year. The Packers have autograph sessions annually as well. However, quarterback Aaron Rodgers hasn’t sat for the signing sessions for the past two years, and has always matched the amount raised.
