NFL franchise San Francisco 49ers might be losing one of their prized assets in running back Raheem Mostert to the Miami Dolphins. Mostert will be leaving the Niners after being on the sidelines for nearly 2 consecutive seasons. It had been a stop-start career with the organization and now is on his way to completing a reunion with former 49ers offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel at South Beach.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Mostert will be signing a 1-year, $3.125 million deal with the Dolphins organization to breathe some life into his NFL career. He is quickly on the road to recovery from the cartilage damage he suffered on his knee and looking forward to playing football games.

He did miss 16 regular-season games and will be hoping to get out of his rut and return to play with his new team.

Since going undrafted, Mostert did enjoy a meteoric rise with the Niners franchise after joining them in 2016 and led them in some of the biggest games of their season. During the 2019 NFC Championship game against the Green Bay Packers, he delivered a 220-yard, 4 TD effort as they went to the Super Bowl. The Niners seem ready to move on to their future with young RBs like Elijah Mitchell and Trey Sermon at their disposal.

What does Raheem Mostert bring to the table for the Dolphins?

The veteran RB will be competing with Dolphins RB Myles Gaskin, who has been special for the last 2 NFL campaigns. He did end up recording 1,818 all-purpose yards and 12 touchdowns as he once again showed his quality, and Mostert seems like the perfect backup to Gaskin. The Dolphins make Mostert their second RB signing following the acquisition of former Cardinals player Chase Edmonds.s

Mostert did release a statement thanking the Niners fans for their amazing support, while stating, “To the Faithful, you guys gave me hope – a purpose to become the best player I can be…I came in as a kid with a dream and left as your starting running back, team captain, and with memories, on and off the field I’ll never forget.

He comes across as a very humble player who did thank the fans for welcoming him and his family for the past 6 seasons with open hearts.

During his time with the Niners, he rushed for 1,610 yards and 11 touchdowns on 284 carries. He also did add 36 receptions for 361 yards during his time in San Francisco, which can be termed as a career marred by injuries. Mostert leaves the organization with questions about what could have been on every Niners fan’s mind.
