Jerry Jones has had the best time with the Dallas Cowboys. The franchise has had a transitional shift ever since he took over. The franchise got to taste gold after Jones took it under his wing. Even so, the value of the team has increased to an all-time high. But the owner still has a regret which he feels to date.
The Dallas Cowboys have come off a skeptical offseason this year. After letting go of some of the franchise’s top athletes, they did not make any free agent splashes. On many occasions, fans deemed Jerry Jones’ decisions as dubious and not appropriate. But the franchise made some draft splashes, and it is yet to see how it turns out.

February 25th, 1989, was the date when Jerry Jones officially took over the franchise. Back in 2019, it was the 30th anniversary. Jones appeared on CBSDFW, where he reveals one of his biggest regrets ever since he bought the franchise. The reporter asks the Dallas Cowboys‘ president if Tony Romo not winning the Super Bowl and being the QB1 was among his regrets. And he acknowledges it.
Jones mentions, “It is my biggest disappointment as far as my time with the cowboys is not having tony in a Super Bowl. He is a very capable guy and has that kind of talent and most people will tell you in the NFL if you have that talent at quarterback that should get you there. We knocked at the door three different times when we were a lot closer than it looked.”
Jones is not someone who will conceal his emotions. He had a special bond with Romo during his tenure in the franchise from 2004 to 2016.

During an appearance on 105.3 The Fan, Jones talked about Romo, who will become eligible for Hall of Fame voting for the first time in 2022. There is no doubt in the Cowboys president’s mind that Tony is talented and has statistical advancements. But he did not win any Super Bowl titles. The main thing that can help improve a resume. However, Jerry is adamant that Tony deserves to be chosen in the first round.
