The New York Jets drafted Zach Wilson with their 2nd overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. While the team must have hoped for a franchise QB for the coming years, in just 2 seasons, their dream is coming crashing down. Wilson, at his best, has only looked like a stop-gap quarterback, who has not been dependable for the Jets. Where his counterpart and the No 1 overall pick in the same draft, Trevor Lawrence is starting to enter the list of elite QBs. The 2nd overall pick has been coming in and out of the team. With many fans already losing patience with the player, they now seem to have the support of a Pro Bowl fullback.
On Thursday, the Jets played the Jaguars in New York. It appears that even San Francisco 49ers Pro Bowl fullback Kyle Juszczyk was also tuned in to see the game. Just like the Jets fans, the 31-year-old had enough of Wilson on the field. During a point in the game, Juszczyk even made his frustration public. The Niners star tweeted his wish to put Joe Flacco instead of the 23-year-old from BYU.

Fortunately for the fullback, he got part of his wish. Sometime after the tweet, the Jets’ head coach Robert Saleh pulled Zach out of the game. But instead of Joe Flacco, it was the former CFL quarterback Chris Streveler.

The Jets began their season with a few victories to give them enough confidence. However, as the year has progressed, they are simply sliding out of the playoff race. Wilson never looked like a QB good enough to lead the team to a deep postseason run, but in the later stages, he started to lose any semblance of a competent QB.

In 9 games this season, the 23-year-old has thrown only 6 TDs paired with 7 interceptions going the other way. He has completed only 54.5% of his passes for 1688 yards. While last season he had the screen of a poor O-line in place for him. This year, the improved squad has exposed his inability to make important plays. Where other QBs from the 2021 draft class like Trevor Lawrence and Justin Fields are turning the fans’ heads with their performance, Wilson has gone the other way.

The fans have completely turned on the young QB, even booing him off at their own ground. Even though the Jets lost the game to the Jaguars with a score of 3-19, the fans were seemingly more pleased just to have Streveler on the field instead of Wilson. All of these are not a good indication of the young quarterback’s career in the NFL.
