NFL franchise San Francisco 49ers and their GM John Lynch seem less concerned about wide receiver Deebo Samuel and his contract situation. During his pre-draft media availability Monday, Lynch was relaxed in talking about their star wide receiver. While briefly touching the subject, Lynch steered clear of any talks of a potential trade for Samuel.

While talking about the Niners wideout, Lynch states, “I can’t ever imagine wanting to move on from Deebo…He’s just too good of a player…We’ve got nothing but love for him and nothing but appreciation for what he’s brought, but you just don’t let guys like that walk. So, I can’t envision a scenario where we would [trade him].”
The statement from Lynch comes in the light of reports from ESPN’s Jeff Darlington suggesting Samuel has put in a trade request to the organization.

Furthermore, he will be opting out of engaging with the Niners franchise in potential contract extension discussions. In 2022, Deebo will be entering the final year of his rookie contract, a deal that comes with a cap number of just under $5 million.
Is Deebo Samuel forcing things for his good?
While GM Lynch did acknowledge reports of Samuel’s trade demands, he was refraining from providing more information about the process. But he maintains that they have remained in communication in recent weeks and don’t have an effect on their 2022 NFL Draft plans. The Niners don’t have a single pick in the first round and might be a long night for their fans hoping to sign future superstars.

It seems Samuel’s eagerness to leave San Francisco soon might be playing on Lynch’s mind as he was keeping the possibility alive. He was open in admitting that all players are fair play for franchises with interests but add that moving on from Samuel is highly unlikely.
The dynamic ‘wide back’ will be an attractive player for any franchise, and his versatility and toughness will be the major alluring points.

The Niners GM needs to work together to figure out some of these complex scenarios and call for patience to make all the parties happy. Samuel is coming off an exceptional season with 77 receptions for 1,405 yards and 6 TDs to go with 365 rushing yards and 8 TDs. Both his teammates and fans will be banking on the franchise to ink a new deal with the franchise’s best player.
