The former Victoria’s Secret Angel has worked extensively in the fashion industry and established herself as one of the most powerful women in the business. For 14 consecutive years, Gisele Bündchen was the highest-paid model in the world. However, it was not always that the businesswoman knew how to save her dollars.

Before meeting her NFL GOAT husband, Tom Brady, the runway icon was already a popular name in the world of fashion. She signed her most expensive deal with the famous lingerie brand, Victoria’s Secret only when she was 19 years old. She earned a total of $35 million from 1999 to 2005. Who does not want to be a millionaire when they are young? But that came its own problems.

Friends took advantage of the selfless nature of Gisele Bündchen

In her NY Times best-selling memoir, Lessons: My Path to a Meaningful Life, the 42-year-old model shared all the problems she faced when she started making money.

The $400 million worth model wrote, “When I first began making money, I was happy to give it away to anyone who needed some.” She grew up with five sisters. Therefore, sharing came naturally to her. “You don’t have any money to pay rent? Here, let me help you with that! Having problems with your boyfriend? Then use my apartment! You don’t have anything to wear? Take my dress, take my shoes!”

But when she could not help others, they got upset. “I was left feeling hurt and used.” Bündchen teaches that in a relationship, it should not be the responsibility of one person to do all the giving. And if one keeps on giving to the excess, they become out of balance. Even though she never mentions how much money she gave her friends, we can assume that it would be a pretty considerable sum.

Gisele was the friend one could count on

When she made friends in New York, the place where she witnessed cultural shock, Gisele became known as a good “psychotherapist.”

“So many people were telling me their problems that at one point my sister Fafi joked that I should start charging an hourly fee!” Although her friendships grew smaller after she made the conscious choice of hanging out with people who add value to her life, it shows us that she has always been a warm and receptive person.
