The MVP race for the current NFL season is a very interesting one. For many, Patrick Mahomes is the obvious choice. But it surely isn’t a one-horse race. But a 24-year-old QB has achieved something that even Mahomes hasn’t done in his career yet. And that has heated up the competition.

Philadelphia Eagles’ Jalen Hurts has really demonstrated the meaning of his last name to the opposing defenses. But with a new record to his name, he might have just overtaken Mahomes. And the NFL world is watching the MVP race unfold with a bated breath.

Jalen Hurts creates history 

There have been a few great dual-threat QBs in NFL history, but Jalen Hurts just achieved something none other has. He has become the first quarterback ever to have consecutive 10+ rushing TD seasons. And that surely bolsters his credentials for the MVP award for the season.

The Eagles are dominant in the league at the moment and look set for a Super Bowl appearance. His main MVP rival Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs also look solid. The fans are in for a treat if the two clash with the Vince Lombardi trophy at stake.

Hurts has led the Eagles to a 12-1 overall record after game week 14. Mahomes and the Chiefs, on the other hand, are 10-3 overall in the same time period. So, the race for that MVP award sure looks mouthwatering. As does the clash of the two in the Super Bowl.

The NFL world is watching the race with a bated breath and awe in the eyes. And they surely noted the achievement of Jalen Hurts that establishes him as an elite dual-threat QB. Here is how the NFL world reacted to the new record.

Hurts does have great numbers for the season. The Eagles QB has thrown 3,157 yards this season with 22 passing touchdowns. And to top that off, he also has 10 rushing touchdowns. Hurts has 264 completions with just three interceptions. The Eagles are at the top of the NFC East divisional table by far and have already clinched their playoff spot.
