The 2021 NFL Draft will be held this weekend in Ohio, Cleveland. This particular draft class boasts a wide range of quarterback talent, ripe for the taking. Trevor Lawrence (Clemson Tigers) is expected to join Jacksonville Jaguars as the 1st overall pick, while Zach Wilson (BYU Cougars) could be drafted by the New York Jets. Another young quarterback grabbing headlines this month is Alabama’s Mac Jones.
The Florida-born youngster threw for 4,500 yards with 41 passing TDs as Nick Saban’s boys won the CFP National Championship earlier this year. He finished as a Heisman Trophy finalist behind eventual winner DeVonta Smith.
Jones is being tipped as a top first-round prospect with reports linking him to San Francisco 49ers. Smith is not surprised that his former teammate is earning rave reviews, based on a stellar showing in 2020.

Speaking on NFL Network’s Good Morning Football, DeVonta Smith was all smiles ahead of the upcoming 2021 NFL Draft. He candidly spoke about his NFL aspirations along with a few words of praise for teammate, Mac Jones.
He responded, “I mean, certainly one of the first guys to be one of the last ones out. I mean, overall, he just, he wants to be great. He comes in every day, he works. And that’s the only thing he knows….I mean, a lot of it (Smith’s success) had to do with him just making the right reads.”

“I mean, him putting the ball where it’s supposed to be and him just knowing that like, I know what the defense is going to do….he’s overall a smart player. And I think that’s the main thing why he always has advanced vision because he always knows what’s what,” Smith said on the show.
