2-Time Super Bowl Champ Ben Roethlisberger Talks About ‘Pulling a Tom Brady’, Five Months After Exiting Gridiron

Ben Roethlisberger, the former quarterback of the Pittsburgh Steelers, retired last season. The Steelers drafted him in 2004, and since then, he has had a legendary career for the franchise. During his 18-years long career in the NFL, Big Ben took the Steelers to three Super Bowls while also winning two of them in 2005 and 2008. He was selected six times for the Pro Bowl during his entire career. Undoubtedly his resume speaks a lot for him.

Another quarterback who dominated the era Ben Roethlisberger played was the great Tom Brady. Bucs quarterback Brady recently returned from his retirement pretty quickly to play the upcoming season. Ben was also asked about his return to the NFL during his appearance on the 102.5 WDVE morning show with Randy Baumann. Unsurprisingly, the former Steelers quarterback gave a pretty quick, blatant answer.

Ben Roethlisberger is confident about current situation

When Ben was asked if he would make a return similar to Tom Brady, he said, “First off, my coach and GM don’t want me back. Second off, I’m pretty content with where I’m at.”

Ben added, “I still talk to a lot of the guys and they keep asking me if I’m sure I’m not coming back. Pat [Freiermuth] sent me a picture of my locker, like empty, with like a cry face. ‘Like, are you sure?'”

Pittsburgh Steelers draft Kenny Pickett to move ahead

With Ben retiring last season, the Steelers were in dire need of a new quarterback to carry the franchise. Even though they had signed Mitchell Trubisky for 2-years, they still needed a franchise quarterback.

The Steelers drafted Kenny Pickett with the 20th overall pick in the NFL Draft 2022, and he can be considered a franchise quarterback for them. However, it will be up to Pickett to justify the trust franchise had in him to succeed Ben Roethlisberger. Without a doubt, those are big shoes to fill in.
