After having one of the worst seasons of his NFL career, Aaron Rodgers is taking his sweet time to contemplate his future. Although a Green Bay return remains a real possibility, Rodgers has a couple of other interested parties. However, there is a lot to consider before the Packers part ways with their legendary quarterback.
Aaron Rodgers could be traded this off-season for a multitude of reasons. But the Packers can also have A-Rod back to complete the rest of his $150 million contract. However, the New York Jets have emerged as the biggest surprise bidder for the reigning back-to-back league MVP.

Aaron Rodgers has not entirely ruled out retirement yet. Talking about his wish to finish his career with the Green Bay Packers on the Pat McAfee Show, Rodgers said, “I have a lot of love for what’s gone on in Green Bay. And I’d love to finish there, I would. I might have finished there. Who knows?”

So, in order to make the move to join the Gang Green, A-Rod has to first decide if he wants to play next year. He’s said he’s capable of another MVP season next year. And retirement looks like the least plausible scenario at the moment. After that, Rodgers has to make a final call about his tenure with the Packers. And if the 2011 Super Bowl MVP moves on from Wisconsin, he then has to decide on the NY Jets.
And this hasn’t even sprung the contract talk into the mix yet. The one Aaron presently has with the Packers and the one he could land up with in New York.
A-Rod won’t be against the Jets’ move for a number of reasons
Green Bay will suffer a massive dead cap hit if they traded Rodgers this off-season after signing the 3-year extension in March 2022. Aaron has a guaranteed $59.465 million waiting if he plays next year. However, the future Hall of Famer is sure that his contract will be adjusted according to his and the franchise’s decision.
“They’re creating void years to allow for an easier cap hit, so there would have to be some adjustments, for sure,” A-Rod told Pat McAfee and crew.

However, Rodgers’ old MVP-period Packers offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett just joined the Jets after a rough head coach spell with the Denver Broncos. Also, Rodgers shares a great relationship with current Jets signal-caller Zach Wilson and will have no problems fitting in.
