The curious saga between wrestling legend Ric Flair and college football analyst Paul Finebaum in the realm of college football has taken yet another turn. Initially a Georgia supporter, Flair’s allegiance shifted to Michigan after a perceived snub from Georgia coach Kirby Smart two years ago. The feud finds its roots in Flair’s lauding Desmond Howard, a Michigan alum, for putting Finebaum “in his place” during an ESPN segment. Finebaum responded by accusing Flair of trying to stay relevant.

The feud continues to escalate, and while a resolution in the wrestling ring seems unlikely, Flair might find himself supporting Michigan in a potential College Football Playoff semifinal against Alabama. The wrestling icon recently took to platform X, formerly Twitter to post, what he claimed to be a screenshot of a text message from the ESPN analyst.

Flair expressed his displeasure with Finebaum’s critical stance on Michigan amid a sign-stealing scandal and highlighted Finebaum’s strained relationship with friends in the South, the alleged text from Finebaum said, “You’ve lost so many friends in the South for being petty about Kirby (Smart) and embracing Harbaugh. So sad.”

Flair, known for his friendship with Jim Harbaugh, responded with a sharp reply, “I Just Received This From Mr. @finebaum,” Flair wrote, thanking Finebaum for his expertise and furnishing him with his own perspective. “However, I Disagree That I’ve Lost Anything In Terms Of Popularity In The South. You Wish You Could Be Half The Man That @CoachJim4UM Is.” He even went on to put a hefty bet on Michigan to support his stance, “ $10,000 On Michigan! I Want To Say STFU, But Since I’m A Class Act, I’ll Just Say Be Silent! Put Up Or Shut Up!” While the ongoing saga adds layers to the unconventional dynamics between the wrestling legend and the college football analyst, the scenario at Michigan and its head coach continues to draw attention and anticipation.

The Carolina Panthers, a plausible option, reportedly drew Harbaugh’s interest last year, though the Panthers weren’t keen.
