The Caitlin Clark magic is working in just 14 games. With the charm that she was oozing, fans saw Clark making it big in her WNBA days. But unlocking an accolade as big as a comparison with the biggest legendary stars of sports was something unimaginable. Clark, being the star she is, made it possible by playing just 14 games in the WNBA. From selling out arenas to bringing an insane amount of viewership to Indiana’s games, the Caitlin Clark fever is breaking the ceiling with each passing day. Clark’s WNBA debut was watched by more than two million people on ESPN, making it the network’s most-watched game in league history.

It strikes some nostalgic notes in Uncle Neely and Tolly’s minds of the Pregame Network. It’s almost like the movie that is replaying for the third time for them. Tolly started by drawing his parallel first, comparing the WNBA phenom to the icon of football Deion Sanders. This reminds me so much of Deion Sanders arriving at Jackson State,” Tolly said to Uncle Neely. One primary reason behind the parallel was Clark selling out arenas.

Despite the Indiana Fever ticket prices soaring to thousands, Clark is selling out arenas everywhere she goes. In her last game, she even sold out the 20,356-seat Capital One arena in under 30 minutes. It started building when Deion Sanders took over the head coaching duties at Jackson State when he started attracting large amounts of HBCU youth to watch and support them. 391,000 watched Jackson State defeat Southern on ESPN2. This type of craze was recently witnessed by Deion Sanders fans as Colorado season tickets were sold out in mere hours, way before the regular season was set to commence. Of course, no one can deny his insane marketability that contributed to this success. However, Uncle Neely saw Clark a bit differently than Tolly.

Is Caitlin Clark like Tiger Woods?

It might be sooner than later that Clark might make it as big as Deion Sanders, looking at the current craze for her. However, Uncle Neely, aka ‘The Speaking Piece’ thinks of it as starting a legacy as great as Tiger Woods. In 2018, when Woods won the Tour Championship at East Lake in Atlanta not only did it break records attendance but also the TV ratings for the final round increased by 206 per cent on the previous year’s figures.

The same thing happened with golf. The entire sport of golf grew because of Tiger Woods. The entire sport of women’s basketball will grow because of Caitlin Clark,” Uncle Neely said, passing a bold prediction on Clark’s future.

Looking at the pace Clark’s fan base is expanding, it would be no surprise if the WNBA phenom etches her name as one of the finest in her sport, especially when she has made herself worthy of comparison with Deion Sanders’ and Tiger Woods’ legacies in her first season. It is expected to be only an upward trajectory from here for her.
