CFB25 continues to stir the bowl like crazy. From deciding to omit any known coaches in the game (like Deion Sanders) to adding Shedeur Sander’s controversial “watch flex” celebration for touchdowns. The game is starting to feel like a wildfire for the Buffs. And that’s not even it. EA also decided that it would be fun to mess around with player rankings. This made Deion Sanders scratch his head.
On 11th July, On3 covered some important questions that Deion had raised. “I’m just trying to figure out how can Shedeur be tied with another person,” Deion remarked. Shedeur Sanders, with a rating of 93 overall, tied with Carson Beck in the rankings. Further, Coach Prime brought up quite an interesting argument. “And how can Travis not have the highest score on the game when he’s arguably the best receiver and the best defensive back in college football?” Travis Hunter, a two-way star for the Colorado Buffaloes, received a 95 overall rating. This did make him the highest-rated WR in the game, but why not a rating of 99? Knowing how good Hunter is with both offense and defense.

Although one can dismiss Hunter’s rating as some error, fans had a strong negative reaction to the defense of Shedeur, whom Skip Bayless proclaimed as the “Best QB in college football”. With one fan claiming that Deion’s son is “overrated” let’s dive in and check out what others had to say.

Back at bashing Shedeur
A fan didn’t hold back, stating, “Well Prime, that’s because your son is overrated and Hunter, while incredibly talented, isn’t the best WR or DB in college football.” He added, “Y’all should first focus on winning six games this year instead of worrying about some video game’s ranking of individual players.” Indeed, the 2023 season was not great for the Buffs, but we cannot discredit the fact that Shedeur and Hunter are both training significantly well for the 2024 season.
Another fan commented, “He should be in the 70s tbh,” suggesting that Shedeur’s rating might be inflated. One more comment shared similar sentiments, saying, “The QB can’t evade the rush – and he didn’t beat a single good team last season.” While Shedeur is good on the offense, his defense needs work. Deion understands this and is already working to get this fixed by getting linebackers in to protect Shedeur in the pocket.

Furthermore, a more provocative question was raised, “Anyone else think Shedeur is mid?” Kind of funny as this will remind fans of the Xavier Smith “mid” comment by Shedeur. However, NFL Draft expert Mel Kiper Jr. had a different take. “Shedeur Sanders, to me right now, is a guaranteed high first-round pick. The accuracy has been unbelievable,” Kiper had said. Shedeur has grown from 68% accuracy in Jackson State to 77.5% in Colorado, now that’s progress.
Lastly, one fan had a more humorous take on the scenario. “He should be 83 with that throwing arm” with a meme of an Adam Sandler movie. With the jokes and all rage aside, a game is a game. Some differences in ratings do not change the actual skill of the player on the field, so let’s see how Hunter and Shedeur surprise fans in the next season.
