No one wants to lose, especially when it comes to football. The feeling is the same when college teams go head-to-head against each other. Deion Sanders is a potent example of what a winner looks like. With a career as decorated as his, he won major titles in both the football and baseball arenas. His coaching career also started with a victory with Jackson State.
However, once he changed his allegiance to Colorado Buffaloes, it was a bumpy ride. There were far too many things that needed to be worked with, and Deion tried his best to develop a winning tradition. But the dream to make it to the playoffs couldn’t be fulfilled with the Buffs, and it left an unwanted record in Deion’s coaching career. The latest episode of Coach Prime season 2 docu-series covers the same emotions.

Colorado’s revival with Deion Sanders began terrifically. It was a near-perfect start with the team winning three consecutive matches and even beating the highly ranked TCU. However, things got worse as they managed just one win in the latter half of the tournament. The team’s QB Shedeur Sanders was regularly sacked more than 50 times, which cost them the game. “First time this season the Buffaloes will not play in front of a capacity crowd.” This was the commentary as the team lost the battle against Washington State, covered in the recent Coach Prime episode.
It also showed a dejected and sad HC Deion Sanders as he waited for the game to finish. Some other moments from the game included Shedeur Sanders soaking himself underneath a towel to avoid the embarrassment. It was all falling apart; the dream that Coach Prime narrated again and again in the dressing room was all coming apart. Personally, for Deion, he entered into an unwanted record- his first-ever losing season while coaching the team. However, Sanders did try to raise the morale and shared some motivational words with the players.

What did Coach Prime say to his players following the loss against Washington State?
There’s never a word such as “defeat” in Coach Prime’s dictionary. He doesn’t work that way! Prime Time was a player who touched everything into gold wherever he went across the two sporting domains. Similarly, his coaching career started with a bang at Jackson State. However, the Buffs, a team to which he gave his all, came crashing down in the most unexpected of ways.

His son Shedeur was getting repeatedly sacked. There wasn’t much support from the offensive line and his dream was flickering away. Deion addressed the players shortly after the loss. “Guys, I’ve never been a part of a team or been a part of a game that I’ve actually witnessed coaches and players quit. And the whole thing that kept me going and kept me encouraged…….I said “One thing about these guys is they haven’t quit”, you guys are quitting man!” Sanders was again asking the players not to give up on themselves.
