Picture this. Travis Hunter versus Shedeur Sanders on College Football 25. The Colorado Buffaloes’ offensive line versus their defensive line. As Hunter tried to drive the ball forward, the virtual Sheduer got sacked. That’s when a Twitch follower asked, “Is the offensive line realistic?” Hunter’s response? “Yes, very realistic. They can’t block for nothing.” Considering Sanders was on the receiving end of 56 sacks last season, it makes sense why his teammate said this. However, two weeks later, the virtual Buffaloes seemed to have turned a corner…

…if Hunter’s 42-18 win over the Clemson Tigers was anything to go by. Or maybe it was just the talent of Travis Hunter: single-minded football player by day and gamer by night. Thanks to Twitch and the person who suggested he livestream his games, fans get to see the giggling-when-winning and rambling-back-and-forth-with-his-friends version of Travis Hunter. And a humble Travis Hunter joking that he ‘does not have a lot of money.’

This is a $2.7 million NIL-valued player we’re talking about, people. Not to mention, he’ll most likely be a top prospect for the 2025 NFL Draft, which will lead to him signing a hefty contract. Yet, he showed his frugal side in handling his bucks, backing away from a 100,000 gifted subscriptions bet for a game of Call of Duty against his friend (and YouTuber), Agent 00. To put things into perspective, 100,000 Tier 1 gifted subs on Twitch can cost $900,000, so it’s understandable why the following conversation happened, as seen on Hunter’s YouTube channel: –

“Yo, Trav,” said Agent, propositioning, “Play me on Call of Duty for 100,000 [gifted subs].” The Buffaloes’ two-way star responded, “Nope, I don’t want to play on for 100,000. Me and your bank account is not the same, bro. You got too much money.” Agent 00 has five YouTube channels, but it all started when he was in sixth grade and began editing Call of Duty montages for friends who played professionally. Now, he has around 98 million subscribers across all his channels, which has helped garner a net worth of close to $10 million.

Coming back to Travis Hunter and Agent 00’s conversation, the YouTuber said, “Bro, you got more money than me! I know how much these college athletes be getting paid.” That left the football player a little dumbfounded, compelling him to say, “No, I don’t! You got more money, bro. You live in a penthouse.” When Agent 00 argued that Travis would be in the NFL next year, making millions, that’s precisely the rebuttal the Buffs two-way used: he’ll have to wait to earn that much until next year. That’s not to say he doesn’t earn anything now.

Owing to his $2.7 million NIL valuation, he ranks fourth on the list of college athletes. Having signed deals with brands like EA Sports, Celsius, and 7-Eleven, he’s doing well for himself. But spending $900,000 was a bit of a stretch even for Hunter. That rejection circled back to his and Angent 00’s original wager, which was based on their game on CFB25. After Hunter chose the Buffaloes, Agent chose the higher-rated Clemson Tigers. However, with 1:50 left in the game and the Buffs leading by a comprehensive margin of 24 points, the message, “The connection to your peer has been lost,” flashed on Hunter’s screen.

The two-way believed the Agent quit the game because he was losing, prompting him to say, “Chat! Tell him to give me my 100 gifted [subs]!” That’s when Agent propositioned the Call of Duty offer. But when Hunter turned it down, Agent 00 had to stick to his word, giving Hunter the 100 gifted subs, which cost around $1,000, but the YouTuber’s reaction ensured it cost him more. After losing, Agent broke his monitor by throwing it on the floor!

That said, let’s put a flip on the picture by looking at the bigger one for a moment. Looking at the plans Travis Hunter has for his future, it is only natural for him to want to stock up on his savings.
