“I love what we building,” Deion Sanders said in all genuineness in his pre-Spring game press conference. The mass exodus from CU has left a major impact on the roster, affecting its motto of Sanders. Comani McClain and Dylan Edwards leaving the Buffs among others gave a deep slashed wound on the Buffs roster, the effects of which the Buffs are expected to answer in the upcoming season. Prime has not been too apprehensive about this and has refrained from making a direct jibe at the situation. He didn’t back off when he got the chance to take a jibe at it.
Addressing it in his 27 April press conference, Prime said, “I’m in this locker room and it may not be a part of that dog process even if you desire. You don’t fit. So now, you see them gallop to the portal,” Sanders said without taking any names. However, all the spectators got an idea of whom Sanders was referring to. But taking a look at the bond he once shared with them, Sanders concluded his words by wishing the best for their future. “But even with those guys man, I wish them the best,” Prime said.
The news of the players leaving for the transfer portal was hurtful for Deion Sanders, especially when he heard the news of Dylan Edwards entering the transfer portal. Prime and Edwards shared a special bond that dates back 12 years. “We’ve coached that kid since he was, I think, 5 or 6 years old, and his sibling. It’s a special bond,” Sanders confessed when the Derby native made his switch from Kansas State to Colorado in 2023.

While his empathy for Edwards is natural, the jibe seemed to be more directed towards Cormani McClain as a response to his mean words on Deion Sanders.
Cormani McClain’s brutal words to Deion Sanders
Safe to say, Deion Sanders tried to be a mentor to Cormani McClain, but he didn’t want to go in that direction. The former Buffs CB fired his shot on Sunday at Deion Sanders while explaining his reason for leaving Colorado, all while using the words of Coach Prime’s rival.
“I feel like I just don’t want to play for clicks,” McClain said in a YouTube video. The comment was earlier made by Oregon’s head coach Dan Lanning, when he said, “They’re fighting for clicks, we’re fighting for wins,” throwing shade at Deion Sanders. No wonder joining Dan Lanning and Co. is shortlisted as the top 5 prospects on McClain’s list.
