While Iowa was favored with GOAT Caitlin Clark, SC coach Dawn Staley broke all odds as her team righted last season’s heartbreaking ending. After the game, Staley was filled with so much emotion that it moved her to tears. 

Dawn Staley said, “They weren’t going to be denied. It doesn’t always end like you want it to end. I’m just super proud of where I work. It’s unbelievable.” The 3x NCAA Division I Tournament champion coach was named the national coach of the year for leading her team in the past 25 seasons to reach the Final Four. For a coach who led her team to a 74-1 record over two seasons despite two different lineups, the appreciation that she received is more than due.

In an unexpected feat, Coach Dawn Staley led South Carolina to beat the team lately receiving all the hype — Iowa, led by NCAA Division I record-breaker Caitlin Clark. After winning an intense game 87-75, the Gamecocks won their third National Championship title under the 53-year-old basketball Hall of Famer and coach. Following this epic victory, Deion Sanders, who’s always been open about his admiration for Staley, lauded her achievement on X, posting, “God Bless Coach @dawnstaley. You are our SHERO!!!! Love ya 2 Life sis.”

Dawn Staley said, “You have to let young people be who they are. But you also have to guide and navigate them. They made history. They etched their names in the history books.” The hype about Sunday’s championship game is that Dawn Staley and SC found themselves in an exact rematch last season. Only this time, they changed history and beat Caitlin Clark and Iowa to sweep up the championship title with a pristine 38-0 record. Following this, SC starter Kamilla Cardoso and Iowa standout Caitlin Clark will enter the WNBA Draft on April 15. But this surely isn’t the last remarkable feat that Dawn Staley has in store for the coming seasons. Meanwhile, Deion Sanders is preparing his Buffs for the upcoming spring game.

The Colorado Buffs gear up for spring football  

The Buffs finished their first 2024 Spring Ball Scrimmage on Saturday under Deion Sanders as Colorado HC. And by the looks of it, it’s going well as positions are formed. Kahlil Benson and Jordan Seaton were positioned at right tackle and left tackle, respectively. Tyler Brown and Justin Mayers worked as guards.

Meanwhile, Travis Hunter led the offense, which resulted in Shedeur Sanders’s touchdown. The Buffs quarterback also facilitated a TD pass through Dylan Edwards. All these practices slowly but steadily lead to their upcoming spring football game on April 27.
