Jim Harbaugh is well aware of ‘expectations’ as upon joining the Chargers, Harbaugh was showered with a bunch of them. They started off slow with Paul Finebaum expecting him to bring in his former team’s ‘X factor’ Ben Herbert. Following that, after ESPN confirmed the Chargers called Ravens’ Joe Hortiz for a second round of talks, fans expected Harbaugh because of his rumored rivalry with his brother John Harbaugh, the Ravens’ head coach.
Gradually, Jim Harbaugh fulfilled all these expectations. However, there’s another pile that he needs to sort, and Pat McAfee popped another heavy expectation on top of that pile. “I think he needs to win a playoff game within his first two years,” asserted McAfee. If that playoff win gets extended till 5 seasons, it would be “a massive failure for Jim Harbaugh,” per McAfee.

However, Jim Harbaugh’s dream to get to the Lombardi trophy is no secret for either McAfee or any other analyst and fan. Since he lost to the Ravens in 2012, his Super Bowl dream has kept him running. This time Harbaugh has come prepared, and whatever was remaining, like building a team per him, is also being done simultaneously.
During the four seasons he spent with the 49ers, Harbaugh has taken a trip to playoffs thrice, along with being the divisional champions twice. His 44-19 record with the 49ers is reported to be a major factor in his Chargers hiring. Looking at his previous NFL numbers, fulfilling Pat McAfee’s expectations does not seem like a tough task for Harbaugh. Moreover, this season, he would be backed by the amazing squad he nit-picked.

In just a span of four days, Jim Harbaugh made five additions to his staff members. Were it some other coaches, it would not have been a big deal. However, it was Ben Herbert, highly credited for Michigan reaching the pinnacle of its success last season. Then it’s Michigan’s former DC Jesse Minter, due to whom, Michigan’s defense ranked historically at the 2nd position overall.
Then, it is Jay Harbaugh, his son and former Michigan safeties coach. Followed by former Bills OC Greg Roman. Finally, their new general manager Joe Hortiz, who has worked with John Harbaugh since as long as he joined the Ravens, as his master stroke against the coach he lost his Super Bowl to. With an armor-clad team like this, Jim Harbaugh is ready to take on the other 15 teams in the pro league.
