The ‘We want JuJu‘ chant is louder than ever in Colorado. The moment that the whole Buffs team has poured their blood, sweat, and tears into is finally here. Commencing in 2 days on June 21, Colorado is charged with hosting their top QB prospect, Julian Lewis, for this official weekend visit as he returns from his other 2 official visits.

Not only is Lewis important from the ‘best bet as Shedeur Sanders’ starting QB replacement’ point of view, but He is also vital for the Buffs to secure a reliable QB, coming in with a proven high school record of completing 283 of 432 passing attempts (65.5%) for 4,118 yards with 48 TDs, paired with 12 INTs. If things, by chance, go left for Deion Sanders and Co. this season like they did last season with a 4-8 record, Julian Lewis is the net they can fall back on.

Particularly why the Buffs staff is thrilled to welcome Lewis this weekend. A CU insider, clad in the classic black and gold shirt, revealed the energy flowing in Buffs for the official visit weekend. “We got a lot of high schoolers that’s going to be here. Hopefully, I’m not going to say Hopefully, this will be our next Buff players for the next year,” the recruiting assistant, Alexeys Ellis, claimed confidently, almost as if hinting towards Julian Lewis.

Julian Lewis is equally enchanted by Colorado. His frequent online exchanges with Shedeur Sanders are proof enough. However, his uncertainty with the program, especially since Deion Sanders started looking for other QBs like Jaden O’Neal, has become a major hindrance to Lewis’s complete agreement. “He could give up on me,” Julian Lewis confessed about his insecurity in an interview with ON3. Other competitors of CU in the Julian Lewis race are leveraging this to their benefit.

Could USC and Auburn sweep Julian Lewis away?

Let’s be honest. USC always had the upper hand here because Lewis had already committed to Lincoln Riley and Co. in April after reclassifying for the 2025 class. To that came a ‘phenomenal’ official visit to USC with his father and mentor, T.C. Lewis.

Plus, Lewis’s clear bias towards joining coach Riley before entering Colorado’s official visit, as he confessed in an interview with ON3, “I chose USC for Coach Riley. He’s had a long run with quarterbacks. He’s had a good run with all the Heisman trophies and stuff like that.”

This ‘bias’ toward Coach Riley came after Lewis returned from his official visit to Auburn. The visit didn’t go too badly since Lewis was impressed with their roster depth and quality. “Their overall team is athletically probably one of the best ones in the country,” Lewis confessed to On3’s Steve Wiltfong. With Auburn and USC holding a dominating hand over Colorado in Lewis’s race, the real question is: Will Deion Sanders be able to impress Lewis equally strongly?
