Is Brandon Baker the next big thing in the NFL? Can he live up to the hype?

Offensive tackle Brandon Baker, who remains one of the top recruits, joins the Texas Longhorns in the class of 2024. Baker, coming from the very reputable Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, California, is now ranked as the best offensive tackle in his class in the country. This, of course, is an excellent feat for Texas since he passed on other big-wig teams such as Ohio State, Oregon, and Nebraska. The coaching staff hired him, hoping for a strong performance right from the start, as he had a reputation for excellent technique and football intelligence.

Baker had a great connection with Texas offensive coordinator and offensive line coach Kyle Flood, who gave him the push he needed to join the program. “I have a really good relationship with Coach Flood, and he’s building a really strong offensive line,” he said. His decision regarding the program’s future direction and Flood’s capacity to recruit outstanding offensive linemen makes sense. Texas is jubilant over getting such a promising talent who can step onto the playing field.

Baker is a “muscle man” but seems to be characterized by good manners and neat movements. Standing 6-foot-5, 300 with great feet, he has the prototypical high school body with the bonus of not looking out of place at the college level. He has some tough competition in this country, and his years at Mater Dei have allowed him to face this challenge. This has developed him to be both a run and a block protector of the ball for the Longhorns, allowing him to interchange in whichever line he finds suitable.

Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian also has great expectations from Baker, and his coaching staff is counting on him as one of the important prospects for the future of the team’s offensive line. Speaking of the fundamentals, Baker seems to have staggering built endowments that make him an ideal pillar for the Longhorns’ line in the coming years. This commitment is also a major improvement to the program, proving they can develop elite talents.
