What Kirby was in football, Mary Beth was in basketball. The couple met in 2005 when the former was coaching as a defensive back at LSU while the latter was working at the UGA’s athletic association in the business office.

Mary Beth Lycett was born on the 23rd of December in the year 1975 in Montgomery, Alabama. She also played for the Morrow High School basketball team after moving to Morrow, Georgia, and was awarded as the Miss Georgia Basketball 1999. She also received a scholarship from UOG because of her skills. During her junior and senior years, Mary Beth was one of the most reliable players on her team and she started in as many as 51 of the 61 games and entered the list of the school’s all-time great 3-point shooters.

Following her sports, she pursued a finance degree, and afterward; she received her law degree from the University of Georgia School of Law. She has performed well academically and in sports and this reveals the effort she has put into it. Today, she is more centered on her family and the Kirby Smart Family Foundation, which is a non-profit organization with the objective of assisting children and families in need residing in their community and the state of Georgia.
