Coach Ryan Day has a partner in crime who is also his life partner. Meet Nina, wife of the Ohio State head coach. Mr. and Mrs. Day have been buddies since their childhood.

Christina Spirou Day, also known as Nina, greatly supports Ryan and is often seen at his team’s games. The playing field has always been a lucky charm for the HC. He met Nina at a playground, where they played tee-ball together. They have shared secrets as best friends and are enjoying life as partners.

The Days were friends before tying the knot

Ryan and Christina started dating early and tied the knot in 2005. Christina is a homemaker who is devoted to her family. They are blessed with three children: Ryan Jr., or “RJ,” Grace and Ourania, or “Nia.” Christina has supported the HC throughout as a best friend to help him focus on his career.

The couple believes in helping their community. Ryan’s father, who suffered from mental illness, inspired the HC to donate to charity. For this reason, the Ryan Day Resilience Fund has been set up. They made a $1 million donation to Ohio State to fund mental health research.

A support system for the coach

Christina is not just another stay-at-home parent. She attended the University of New Hampshire, where she earned a degree in communications. She had that determination to support Ryan. She was there with him throughout the late-night games, the media, the ups and downs. But one can say she was born into this lifestyle. Her father, Stan Spirou, was the men’s basketball coach at Southern New Hampshire University. Stan remained the head coach there for over 26 years. He is one of the most successful coaches in the history of Division II basketball. He was awarded New England Collegiate Conference Coach of the Year four times.

Christina has also worked as an adjunct faculty member at Southern New Hampshire University. When Ryan’s coaching career finally took off, she abandoned her career to focus on her family. She plays golf and enjoys staying active through sports and fitness.

The couple has always been there to support one another and serve as an inspiration for their fans.
