Is Jadon Porter the next big thing for Baylor, or just another overhyped recruit?

It’s just a dream come true,” Jadon Porter said when he asked how he feels about joining his home team. It seems like the four-star WR waited for a long time to get this opportunity. Most importantly, on the Locked On Baylor Podcast, when the host asked Porter the reason for choosing Baylor, he said, ” The coaching staff kind of caring for you as the person rather than just the player. Along with that, he mentioned that the entire staff of Baylor would text him to ask how he was doing, which felt like a family connection to the young wide receiver.

However, the three-star Lorena receiver received several offers from major football programs such as Oklahoma State and TCU. However, since his sophomore season, he committed to Baylor and has continued his journey with them till now. So, you can imagine the immense love of the young wide receiver for his team. Born in Lorena, TX, Porter attended Lorena High School and he caught 178 balls for 3,451 yards and 32 touchdowns in total throughout his career in high school. Additionally, he was tabbed by Dave Campbell’s Texas Football as a four-star prospect after leaving high school. Most importantly, in 2022, Porter earned All-District Honorable Mention as an all-purpose player. Before that, in 2020, he was tabbed District Offensive Newcomer of the Year as a freshman.

However, in a discussion with Grayson Grundhoefer regarding his commitment to Baylor, Porter revealed another cause for choosing the hometown team. This was, for the 2024 class, Bears beat out Oklahoma State and TCU for the No. 212 player in the country. Moreover, the young wide receiver believed that “Passion drive, and patience are what bring home the winning trophy.” Let’s take a glimpse of the achievements of the star athlete. 

Porter’s career highlights 

On December 20, 2023, Porter signed the letter of intent to Baylor and enrolled his name on January 15, 2024. After joining the Bears, a sense of improvement arrives in the four-star prospect and he said ” The flashiness and the catches are everything. It just makes you a better player“. However, the 4-star WB has been crowned with the Texas 3A D-1 State Championship and earned the First-Team All-District honors as a receiver. Although the achievements do not end here, the young man tries his best to uplift his skills. So, you can expect marvelous performances from the Baylor WB in the future.
