Ron Mertz was born in Burnsville, Minnesota, and had always been a fan of the Gophers football team. Graham Mertz began his collegiate career at Wisconsin, where he quickly made a name for himself. Furthermore, in his first game as a starter in 2020, Mertz threw for five touchdowns and completed 20 of 21 passes, setting a high bar for his performance. And over his tenure at Wisconsin, he amassed over 3,360 passing yards, 28 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions.
