Eunice Rising, Cameron’s mother, works for Amtrak and has been a constant source of support. Also, her connection with former Texas Longhorns coach Tom Herman, who also attended her elementary school, influenced Cameron’s initial commitment to Texas. Eunice played an integral role in guiding Cameron through the challenges and decisions of his athletic career. Reflecting on their visit to Utah, Eunice mentioned in an interview with Austin American, “We felt good about the school. Cam’s not a big party person like Texas was in that way he couldn’t find his groove and people who were like-minded,” highlighting the thoughtful consideration behind his transfer to Utah.

Cameron’s older brothers, Tyson and Jordie, also pursued athletics, with Tyson playing as an offensive lineman at Arizona State University. This constant support has been crucial in developing Cameron’s resilience and determination. “I grew up competing with Tyson. I learned how to really dig deep and know you can always do a little bit more,” Cameron said, reflecting on his upbringing.

Rising transferred to Utah from Texas in 2019 and quickly established himself as a key player for the Utes. Despite a season-ending shoulder injury in his first game as a starter in 2020, Rising made a remarkable comeback.

The University of Utah’s head coach, Kyle Whittingham, described him as the ‘alpha dog’ of the team and how he motivates and influences his fellow team members.
