UCF running back R.J. Harvey is a passionate and hardworking athlete who started playing football when he was 5. Yes, you heard it right. Harvey hails from the vibrant city of Orlando, FL. His parents, sisters, and family members immensely encouraged his passion for sports.
The former Virginia Cavaliers quarterback stands at 5’9″ and weighs 205 lbs. Before joining his current team, R.J. showcased various skills at Virginia that helped him get recruited to UCF in 2020, which he is very proud of.

Harvey has two sisters. Their family profoundly appreciates the core values of every sport. His father, Robert Harvey Sr., was a cornerback at Bethune-Cookman from 1987 to 1990. Both of his sisters are also sports enthusiasts. His little sister Alaina plays softball at Allen University in South Carolina, where she pitches and plays third base. His elder sister ran track in her high school. Cousin Roy Jones Jr. is a boxer. The variety of sports played in the family tells us their immense love for sports.

Harvey always feels fortunate to have been born into his family. He said, “My father taught me how to play football. He coached me until high school. I started playing quarterback when I was maybe 7 or 8 and all the way through high school and one year at Virginia.”

Robert Harvey Sr. used all his playing experience at the university to help R.J. grow in his career. He feels very fortunate that he can help his son achieve great miles and make the family proud.

He knows the kind of player I am and how hard I am on myself. He gives me great motivation before games. Being a coach, he understands what’s going on and tells me what I can do better.” This statement clearly shows us Robert Harvey Sr.’s involvement in Harvey’s football career.
The Harvey family loves spending time together, as they were seen celebrating the Knight’s win at Cincinnati. “Watching a match with family. After the season, I want to do some camps, maybe a free camp and one where you only pay maybe 25 dollars. All the Edgewater guys, like (running back) CJ Baxter at Texas, are going to get together and do a camp. Bring the whole city out and let the kids have a good time,” Harvey added.
