While they moved out to Montgomery, he joined the Madhouse training group, for which he credited his mom for letting him stay and work with Madhouse. Although training there was hard, it strengthened him and also helped him in his personal development. As he says, “This place is more than a building. It builds you.” After coming out of the madhouse and joining Carver High School, Qua made a friend for a lifetime. James Smith, who also played at Carver High School, became Qua’s best friend, and the two of them even got along well with each other’s families. Through their college commitment, they were together. 6-foot-2, 251-pounder Qua Russaw had an amazing high school career at Carver, followed by his impressive stats on the field. During his senior season, Qua recorded 130 tackles combined with 27.5 tackles for loss and 16 sacks while finishing the season. After delivering such performances, most of the recruiters rated Qua as a five-star prospect, while they ranked him as the No. 22 overall player in the country, and he made his mark as the top linebacker in Alabama. On top of that, Qua was chosen to play for the honorable Alabama-Mississippi all-star game.
After completing high school, he stacked offers from many well-known universities, such as Georgia, Clemson, Florida State, LSU, Miami, Texas, A&M, USC, and the college he later committed to, which is Alabama. He’s showcased faith and spirit for Alabam over such prestigious colleges, giving a hint of his passion for the team. As a redshirt freshman, he has the potential to be a key player for the team, while analysts are projecting him to be a Day 2 NFL draft pick if he continues to improve himself on the field.
