Don Boykin graduated from the University of Ole Miss along with his first cousin, Arnold Showboat Boykin. The multitalented QB Luke Altmyer started his high school career with a career-opening 454 completions on 659 attempts for 5523 yards, along with 63 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Additionally, he used 105 attempts for 8 yards and 6 touchdowns. His dashing scoreboard led him to attend Ole Miss. After enrolling at the college, he played in five games during his first year, for which he completed 20 passes for 37 attempts for 192 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions.
After playing for two seasons, he got transferred to Illinois by entering the transfer portal. Right after coming to Illinois, he rocked the gridiron with 175 completions on 270 attempts for 1883 yards, along with 13 touchdowns and 10 interceptions, in addition to 282 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns.
