LaJohntay Wester’s family in Palmetto, Florida, had a great love for sports and they brought him similarly. His father John Wester was much involved in early training as a Player, while his mother Laquita always encouraged him. He also has two brothers, Jaylen, and John Jr., who are as active as LaJohntay. Jaylen is a person who has engaged in football at Florida Atlantic University. Thus, the family has always been linked with sports.

 

LaJohntay played an active role in the football team at Palmetto High School, assuming the positions of both a quarterback and a wide receiver. Besides the kick and punt returns, in his last year of college football, he accomplished 35 receptions, 758 receiving yards, and 8 touchdowns. These achievements were not only evidence of versatility but also brought him fame and set the basis for his college years.

One significant step that LaJohntay took was that he decided to transfer from FAU in Florida to Colorado. Following the culture and the family atmosphere created by Coach Prime in Colorado, LaJohntay considered the move as a chance to grow and develop under the NFL talents’ leadership. LaJohntay expressed his feelings about the decision to transfer in this way: “Coach Prime, and just this environment, this family…it was a no-brainer for us to come here and get the exposure,” LaJohntay said.

Johntay’s Career highlights so far

LaJohntay Wester first started his college football at Florida Atlantic University but got transferred to another college. In 45 games played while attending FAU, he caught 252 times for 2703 receiving yards with 21 touchdowns. His brilliant playing efforts won him several awards, such as First Team All-AAC and the AAC Special Teams Player of the Year in 2023. In addition, he was honored as the First-Team All-American in punt returns, which also pointed to his opportunity in the particular team.

LaJohntay also had a superb year in 2022, making 108 receptions and 1168 receiving yards. This performance ranked him in the seventh position among the best receivers of the year and proved that he could withstand pressure. The UAB match was one of the best games of his life as he set records of 11 catches for 219 yards and three touchdowns.

Wester then transferred to the University of Colorado Boulder, where he excelled. Before too long, he was a key performer in the Buffaloes’ offense, with the help of the healthy rival and friendly competition in Colorado. His parents supported him in this transition process. It’s been great… We feed off each other’s energy so we compete but we also boost each other up when we’re doing good,” LaJohntay said about his stay in Colorado.​
