With such a supportive family, is Julian Sayin destined for NFL greatness?

“He got voted captain as a junior,” and that has only happened twice during the 13-year coaching history of Coach McNeal at Carlsbad because they only have senior captains. We are talking about Julian Sayin, who was enrolled at Carlsbad High School, and as a sophomore, he earned this honor. What could be the driving force behind the dedication of this young man?

In most cases, it’s the parents who instill their children with such values, and Julian indeed has great parents. However, here we are referring to his older brother. Who is a great football player—better to say a great QB, just like his younger brother, and from whom Julian seeks inspiration on and off the field? Don’t you think it would be fun to know more about Julian’s family, and specifically his brother?

We don’t know much about his parents; no doubt they have been a great mom and dad who built all three of their kid’s careers in sports. While growing up, Julian had great luck having another football lover at home. From a very young age, he took part a lot in his brother’s football practice. His other sibling is his sister, Baily, who played soccer at the University of Chicago. Currently, Julian is a QB for Ohio, and his brother Aidan is a QB for Penn, but once the brothers were playing together, they started their football journey at Carlsbad, where Aidan was the senior starter and Julian was his freshman backup. Their coach at Carlsbad has strong faith in him, looking at his journey at the high school.

Thadd MacNeal, who has been serving for 13 years as a head coach, also attended Carlsbad and has seen dozens of players come and go, but he believes that Julian stands out. “Okay, this guy, he’s got some extra factors that are going to help him become a great quarterback down the road,” said Thadd MacNeal, who did a great job training Julian Sayin. However, he is not at all surprised by Julian enrolling in Ohio, as he has always been like this, very locked in and focused from a young age. Now that his college career is about to start at Ohio, let’s look at what he has done to get where he is today.

Julian’s journey from high school to college

After enrolling with Carlsbad, he got selected to play in the Under Armour All-America game and the Polynesian Bowl. During the games of his senior year, he captured 2347 yards and 24 touchdowns with just one interception, and he finished high school with a total of 7824 yards and 85 touchdowns with 10 interceptions. Additionally, he was honored as the MVP at the 2023 Elite 11 finals in high school. On top of that, he was ranked No. 1 both as a QB and as a No. 1 player in California. In his Ohio State selection, he was considered a five-star prospect in the 2024 class. Well, he had other plans before committing to Ohio.

Primarily, he got enrolled with Alabama, but right after the retirement statement of Nick Saban, he shifted his commitment to Ohio State in January. Ahead of the upcoming season, Ohio now has six talented QBs in the quarterback room, including Devin Brown, Lincoln Kienholz, Will Howard, Julian Sayin, and Air Noland, which is going to be highly competitive, right? But that’s what Sayin likes the most, as his ex-coach suggests. Besides, what are your thoughts on the upcoming season? Which is your favorite team? Let us know in the comments!
