Athletic and academic journey
Dylahn McKinney was a student of Colleyville Heritage High School in Colleyville, Texas, where he proved to be a gifted football player. In 2020, under the coaching of Kirk Martin, McKinney led the Panthers to an 8-1 record and first-team all-district honors. In addition, outstanding performances characterized his high school career, such as 35 tackles, five interceptions, and some other plays that demonstrated his defense ability.

Also, after high school, McKinney continued to play college basketball at Oklahoma State University for two seasons. During his first year on the team, he appeared in 14 games and started his first game in the Texas Bowl against Texas A&M. He concluded the season with 38 tackles and five pass breakups which placed him in a tie with another player for the team lead in the latter. This was evident in his season-high seven tackles in the Big 12 Championship game against Texas.
McKinney moved to the University of Colorado in 2024 and is still studying there, performing well. His transfer to Colorado came with high expectations and McKinney has since risen to the occasion and is now a starter in the Buffaloes’ secondary. His performances and other activities in the field have made him gain a reputation as a good CB.
