Born on August 13, 2005, in Willis, TX, Lagway realized his interest in sports from childhood. His parents, Derek and Niki Lagway, always be there throughout his football journey. His father, Drek Lagway, was a former Baylor running back from 1997 to 01 and played college football at Baylor University. To see their son’s immense love and speed grow for football, once Derek mentioned “When he was five years old, he was just different from everyone else at basketball. He was bigger than almost everybody, but he could play. When he played Little League football when he was about 10 years old he was tackled like five times–the entire season“.

On the other hand, his mother, Niki Lagway, was a cheerleader, basketball player, and track athlete, and the most interesting fact is that both of his parents represented purple and white. Moreover, Niki has contributed hugely to shaping the work ethics of Lagway. If we want to describe it in his mother’s words, “He is a goal-oriented person, On his bathroom mirror he writes his goals–small goals and big goals. Starting from Willis High School in 2022, Lagway has been crowned with several titles like Mr. Texas Football and Gatorade Football Player of the Year. Along with that, he recorded 8,392 passing yards and 100 passing touchdowns. On his achievements, his father said, “I cried – I’m going to be honest with you. I knew all the hard work he put in to earn the honor.” Additionally, he mentioned “Going out to the first game this year and seeing my son lead the Willis Wildkats in front of his community… our community… it was a dream come true. We were just overjoyed with pride.

On January 7, 2024, Lagway enrolled his name at Florida Gators, and on his choice, his mom said, “I just want him to go play for someone who loves him and treats him like their son,“. It seems like Florida is a right fit for the young quarterback, as the coaches shared a very close relationship with him. Currently, the five-star prospect upgrades himself to acquire more success in the future on Gridiron.
