DJ Giddens joined Kansas State University in August as a freshman and has undergone training to become a standout running back for the university. Giddens, born in Junction City, Kansas, has proven to be hardworking and talented in football since childhood. The exact path to becoming one of Kansas State’s major contributors can be explained by the degree of talent and effort and the support from family members.
His parents are David Giddens and Monique Giddens. They have supported his passion for football, even at Junction City High School. David and Monique have supported DJ by encouraging him to fulfill his dreams and strive in school and on the football team. This, we can say, has contributed significantly to DJ’s personal and athletic growth. For instance, DJ once said, “My parents have always been there for me.” They demanded the best out of him, so he had much to thank them.

Standing at 6-foot-1 and weighing 212 pounds, DJ was more productive in high school, having rushed for 1,912 yards and securing 34 touchdowns. His family’s support was a significant factor in his success. David and Monique, being avid fans of the team, were always heard and sometimes seen supporting from the stands. Despite the long distances they had to travel, their unwavering support was always evident, and they made sure not to miss a single game.
Transitioning from high school football to college football is always a challenging journey for most football players; however, DJ Giddens was resolute in taking this step and achieved it with the unwavering support of his family. By the end of their first season at Kansas State, DJ’s determination shone through as he performed admirably, having played in all 14 games and rushing for 518 yards.

While at Kansas State University, Giddens’ family’s influence continued. In the 2023 season, he even reached some important personal records within a game; this season, he ran for 207 yards against UCF and scored four total touchdowns. This performance got him a national audience and took him a notch higher in talent presentation. DJ also has aspirations not only for a football career but also for education. He is majoring in business administration, a good indication of the preparation he is willing to put in for his future once football is no longer possible.
DJ’s story is about the fact that support from families can significantly influence an athlete’s career. All in all, it may be said that without parents, DJ would not have been the person he is today. “I wouldn’t be where I am today without my parents,” DJ said. “Their support means everything to me, and I am grateful for everything they have done.” To sum it all up, DJ Giddens’ story is a testimony to how family plays a crucial role in every athlete’s life. Indeed, his parents’ support has been one of the critical factors in his success, and as he sets records and climbs new peaks, their role will continue to be one factor in his approach to the game.
