If you are looking for a man in finance, 6 ‘2 and blue eyes,” you might run into Camden Dempsey at the Colorado Buffaloes. The viral social media trend fits well with the unofficial Buffs’ “governor,” who had been a prime advocate of Deion Sanders when the head coach was accused of “favoritism” some time back. LS Dempsey is indeed a name to look out for this fall.

The 255-pound native of Lakewood, Colorado, has been attending the Buffs football games for as long as he can. He is pursuing his major in finance at CU, and his family holds more than 11 degrees from the university! Let’s meet the family of the Buffs’ governor, shall we?

Camden is not only a prolific player, his academic resume is extraordinary as well. The LS was inducted into the 4.0 Club for securing a perfect GPA at the 2022 Academic Breakfast at Colorado. As the Valedictorian of Lakewood High School, Camden earned high school honors in his four seasons. The CU Sophomore is also a Boettcher Scholar with a four-year, full-ride academic scholarship. Camden was also a Coolidge Senator and received a Dartmouth Book Award in 2020.

It runs in the family for Dempsey. Grandfather Ed Fogle has been a CU season ticket holder since 1967 and served as the president of the Denver Buff Club. Papa Brad Dempsey, who was also an Eagle Scout, is an award-winning finance and restructuring lawyer. Brad graduated from CU Boulder with a Central and East European Studies degree. Mama Nancy Dempsey is also a lawyer who graduated from CU Boulder. Brad and his wife have been married for 25 years and live in Arvada, Colorado.

Camden’s sister, Margaux Dempsey, also went to Lakewood High School. Much like her brother, Margaux is a meritorious student, and she recently got accepted to the Harvard class of 2028 and the University of Colorado Leeds School of Business (and honors and scholars programs), along with many other Ivy League colleges. Margaux, who just finished her summer internship at CU, had fun strength-coaching Shilo Sanders, the son of head coach Sanders. According to brother Camden, the banters between Shilo and Margaux were some of the funniest he had ever encountered. Camden also considers Shilo to be one of his favorite personalities on the team.

If he were not a football player, Camden would have been a swimmer, golfer, or skier (if only his “knees permitted”). The Colorado governor wants to train his future kids to be golf prodigies and will not settle for anything less. With interests in Marcus Aurelius and Elon Musk, Camden believes he can take down a panda bear or a black bear (not a grizzly bear, mind you!) in hand-to-hand combat. Camden loves listening to EDM and Country music and is a big fan of Zack Bryan and Kygo. Camden, who also speaks Mandarin, wants to be an entrepreneur.

The governor of the Buffs is also a huge advocate for mental health. He is a member of the Robbie’s Hope Foundation Board, an organization that focuses on teen suicide prevention and mental health awareness.
