The Michigan Wolverines are all set to take on the Washington Huskies in the College Football Playoff National Championship. The Top 2 teams, both ranked at 14-0, seem all geared up for the big stage. Both look to be fully determined to etch their name on the trophy first time since the 1990s.

Amidst this, Washington is facing a big challenge in the form of a reported injury to a key player. Yet, despite facing injuries from their last Sugar Bowl game, the RB and his team look determined and committed to giving their everything in their final matchup against the Wolverines.

Washington’s RB Dillon Johnson is battling a right foot injury but is sure to play in the CFP National Championship, even if it means taping his whole right leg! This level of dedication is commendable as he stated that he is “ready to rock and roll” and do whatever it takes to help his team on the big day.

However, Johnson has admitted in a pre-game interview that he will not be fully fit for the game, and he doubts that he will be able to perform at 100%.  He has been dealing with multiple injuries since November. During the Sugar Bowl, Texas defensive lineman Alfred Collins dragged him to the ground, bruising his left knee and aggravating a lingering right foot injury. “But it’s all good. I’ll bе rеady to rock and roll and givе whatеvеr my tеam nееds. I’ll be ready to do it,” said Johnson. Washington offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb stated that he expects Johnson to be fully available for Monday night

Despite his injury, the Huskies have high expectations from Johnson

Grubb added that he does not anticipate any limitations on Johnson’s play. Grubb said, “He has done a great job the last couple of days. We were more worried about his foot initially, but now he’s really feeling good.” Coach Kalen DeBoer plans to use Johnson extensively in the upcoming game, but he also mentioned that they would carefully monitor his performance during gameplay due to his past injury.

Johnson’s injury had previously affected important strategic moments in games, as seen in the game against Texas where the clock was stopped because he was unable to rise, giving the opponent an advantage in time management. Reflecting on the incident, Johnson found it unsettling but was relieved that the team eventually won the Sugar Bowl.

However, RB coach Lee Marks praised Johnson’s robust playing style and expects his full-throttle performance. Marks emphasized, “Obviously, he’s feeling as good as any running back. After each game, it feels like a car crash. So, hopefully, God willing, Dillon continues to hit on all cylinders. That’s what we expect.”
