Coach Prime is rubbing off onto graduate assistant coach Warren Sapp. It has only been a few months since he joined the Buffs, but he has embraced the team in its entirety. This includes the rules and decorum of their locker room. We know how strict Deion Sanders is about following the rules, right? And he expects no less from the other coaches.
Backtracking to Cormani McClain, Sanders, and the former CU player had a lot of issues when it came to discipline. McClain even took digs at the HC stating, “I feel like I just don’t want to play for clicks. I actually want to be involved with a great leading program that’s going to develop players.” However, CU coaches are determined to not let something similar take place. And Sapp is on the same page as Sanders.

On the June 9 episode of Thee Pregame Show, Uncle Neely spoke as a guest about all things related to the Colorado Buffaloes. He and BiggDogg Chico engaged in a conversation where the latter drew Neely’s attention to the method that Colorado has been employing to reduce players’ screen time.
The team and the staff put their phones in a little container. So they don’t use their phones when the team is together. Deion Sanders first introduced the method and Sapp is taking it forward. On the podcast, Uncle Neely shared, “I had lunch with Warren Sapp, a Hall of Famer today, and he has two phones and both of them were in the container and he was talking to players at the table. It’s probably now just about a full week that this policy has been in place.”
He loved that the players and coaches were talking and getting to know each other. What’s surprising is that there were no complaints about the policy. Uncle Neely further stated that the team “truly do understand what he’s trying to accomplish by doing this.”
This policy also reminds us of a previous incident when Deion Sanders kicked out a CU player from the meeting room. Why? Because they broke the protocol. “No phone, no food, and no drinks,” that’s the rule for their meeting room. But when the player’s phone rang, Coach Prime was disappointed that the basic rules were not adhered to. Hence, the player got kicked out for the rest of the day.
However, not everyone is on board with the new rule of leaving their phones in a contained. And it is none other than Shilo- Deion Sanders’ son.

The team is training hard for the upcoming season since they ended up at the bottom of the points table with a 4-8 record last year. With recent additions to their roster and coaching staff, Coach Prime is redefining the squad to have a better outcome than their 2023 season.
Hence, the no-phone rule. The idea is that the players and coaches mingle with each other during breakfast and lunch. It is supposed to help in building a team with strong connections and understanding. But the Colorado safety, Shilo, wasn’t a fan of the method.
Tysha Stewart was supposed to enforce the new rule, as asked by Deion Sanders. She said, “He put me on this project. So now they have to put their phones in here during breakfast and lunch… and I just saw Shilo, and he said, ‘You know what, Coach Prime is going way too far’.”

However, since this is supposedly the last season that Shedeur, Shilo, and Travis are playing for the Buffs, the stakes have never been higher for Prime Time to take the team to a CFP top-4 spot in the name of redemption. They need to prove themselves.
