For Deion Sanders, thе NFL nowadays has bеcomе too “soft.” This is something Tom Brady also shеd light on еarliеr with his “mеdiocrе” rеmark. Labеling today’s NFL as too “ovеrprotеctivе,” Dеion Sandеrs, in his rеcеnt appеarancе in FULL SEND PODCAST, said, “It’s crazy. I undеrstand that I can’t rеcitе thе tеrminology. It’s almost likе thеy’rе falling with thеm and thеy lеg-tack somеthing likе that. I haven’t еvеn hеard of that. Do you think that with еvеrything thеy’rе doing, it’s making thе gamе safеr or thе gamе has to be safеr?”
Coach Prime sees the “safer” play of the league as necessary to protect the quarterback on the field, but he is not ready to apply the same for the defense. Therefore, being a head coach and dad, he does not want his safety son to follow this “soft” way of playing.
In a candid interview on May 18 with ROUTEGOD, reminiscing the earlier rules of the league from his own playing days, Deion Sanders expressed strong opinions about the league’s evolving safety regulations. “I remember I used to come home from practice and play until dark. Who does something like that now? Not anymore. The game has evolved and it is a much better game. It’s much safer,” Sanders remarked. However, when pressed by the host on whether he sees the NFL’s current safety measures being applied to the defense, especially to Shilo Sanders, Prime’s response was notably critical.

“Well, no. I want Shilo to be violent… ‘Cause he’s supposed to bring the violence,” Sanders stated. Sanders’ comments were supported by the traditional hard-hitting style of football safeties contrasting modern efforts to protect players from injuries. While appreciating the progress made in terms of nutrition and training, Sanders clearly believes that physical aggression remains a crucial aspect of the game. And we can say that Shilo was never seen playing “soft” at all, be it in practice or on the field.

Shilo Sanders: The CEO of headache gang
Being the CEO of the Colorado Buffaloes Headache Gang, Shilo is always ready to bring back the feeling of old-school football on the field. This was evident during last month’s spring practice when Shilo delivered multiple hard hits on opponents. One of these plays was when Shilo, to all the coaching staff’s awe, smoothly tackled 175lb WR Asaad Waseem by dropping him to the ground during the CU O-line vs D-line matchup.

In fact, during the last season of NCAA college football, when Shilo was ejected from the field during the game against UCLA, despite the scathing backlash, Shilo echoed his coach/father’s sentiment and made a stern declaration on his Instagram. Sharing the play that caused the ejection, Shilo wrote in the caption, “Bring old school football back.”
Regardless of how “soft” the league becomes, it seems Shilo, backed by Coach Prime, is poised to make some old-school defensive moves in the upcoming season and in the pro league next year as well.
