Caleb Williams, the quarterback for the USC Trojans, is the newest player to stir up transfer rumors. The 22-year-old recently declared for the 2024 NFL draft after ending the 2023 season poorly with the team. Williams has been with the Trojans for the past 2 years and might end up in the NFL with the Chicago Bears, per recent reports.

The former coach for the Arizona Cardinals, Kliff Kingsbury, was recently released from the team after a disappointing record of 4-13 in the NFC West division. Now, as he scouts for a new job, a particular team seems to have caught his eye. The transfer portal keeps getting more interesting with each passing day and this time, it’s the Heisman winner Williams who will be rolling the stones.

It was recently announced by Ian Rapoport on X that Kingsbury would be sitting down with the Bears for their opening for the OC position. Before this, Kingsbury received a lot of backlash for his time with the Cardinals and witnessed an embarrassing exit from the team. Now, he has shown an interest in the Chicago Bears as they are currently on a search for someone to replace Luke Getsy, the previous OC.

Kingsbury was the OC for the USC Trojans from 2018 to 2019 and worked with Williams during that time. Since the Chicago Bears have the upper hand with holding the number 1 draft pick in 2024, it’s obvious that they would be interested in Williams, who was one of the best QBs this past season. If Williams does end up with the Bears, the team will have a difficult decision to make between Justin Fields or the USC quarterback.

Justin Fields was the 11th overall pick for the Bears in 2021 and has since performed for the team with all his heart. After the Browns’ last match against the Green Bay Packers, the fans have speculated that it might have been Fields’ final appearance for Chicago. Additionally, Fields was even heard talking about the uncertainty of his future when he said, “Appreciate the fans and the support from all the Bears, you know, and in case this is my last rodeo with y’all, appreciate y’all for everything.” These signs indicate that Fields’ time with the Bears is in jeopardy and Williams’ recruitment would obviously mean a red flag for him.

Williams will most likely be picked by the Chicago Bears as the number 1 draft pick, expert suggests

Williams managed to outshine himself in the 2023 season as one of the leading contenders for the Heisman trophy. The youngster has been compared to the likes of Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes, in recent statements. Moreover, threw for more than 10,000 yards and scored a total of 120 touchdowns in 37 college games played. As such, it is apparent that he will be one of the top picks for the NFL draft, as teams are always on the lookout for high-rated quarterbacks.

Concerning Williams’ NFL team prediction, this is what Michael Schwartz of USA TODAY had to say. He said, “In taking Williams, Chicago can set itself up with a more favorable timeline to compete as it continues to build out its roster and provide the support that Fields lacked for most of his tenure.” Several experts agreeing with Schwartz’s opinion make it seem as if Williams is going to have a bright future in the NFL. Come April 25, the world of the NFL is set to change for the better as these top-notch quarterbacks step into the league.
