As per the recent rumor surrounding the NFL Draft 2024, the Bears are expected to make bold moves. They already enjoy the first overall pick and are expected to bolster their squad with potential new additions. Drake Maye and Caleb Williams have been massively reported to be on their radars. Moreover, reports also suggest they may be in the market for an offensive tackle and a wide receiver to support their quarterbacks and offense.
Some big names have been linked to the franchise. However, they have already made some additions that can benefit the new season. Many analysts have predicted that the Chargers moving for the other two positions could be due to them being in pole position to get Williams’ signatures. However, unless a deal is confirmed, all speculations can only be used to mask realities.

The Chicago Bears have been known to be an intelligent franchise when it comes to recruitment and protecting their star players. General manager Ryan Poles has been at the helm, directing the franchise’s future into glory. He adds up some new weapons in 6-time Pro-Bowl wide receiver Keenan Allen. They have also added running back D’Andre Swift., and tight end Gerald Everett for his new rookie quarterback (potentially Caleb Williams).
Got a good sense the #Bears go for an offensive player if they stay at #9. Either a WR or an OT would be BPA and also a marvelous pairing for Caleb Williams. #NFLDraft

According to Over The Cap, the Bears have $30.89 million in cap space, which is behind the Commanders, Patriots, Titans, and the Eagles. Strengthening themselves in the offensive tackle position, the Bears added Jake Curhan. However, Poles does not seem satisfied with the arsenal at his disposal. He is expected to move for more talent to protect their future quarterback at Williams. Pairing him up with someone on his level would not only help the team win games but also increase everyone’s chemistry in the dressing room.

Legendary Bears partnerships which brought them glory
Bears also run the pressure of living up to the legacies of James “Big Cat” Williams and Jimbo Covert who were top OTs of their time. Williams even went undrafted before spending 12 successful careers with the Bears and achieving a Pro Bowl in 2001. Covert was drafted in the first round in 1983 and was a two-time All-Pro selection. He played a pivotal role in protecting the quarterback’s blind side.
If Caleb Williams does join the Bears, they will aim to replicate the success of their previous QB-WR partnerships. Some legendary link-ups include Jim McMahon and Willie Gault. The duo were electric in their plays, combined with McMahon’s aggression and Gault’s pace and playmaking. Together, they helped the Bears win Super Bowl XX in 1985. Another legendary Bears pairing includes Sid Luckman and Ken Kavanaugh. Known for their exceptional passing, they helped the Bears win four NFL championships in the 1940s.
