Is Jerry Jones already planning to replace Dak Prescott with Shedeur Sanders? What does this mean for the Cowboys?

“They’re irrelevant” Well, that’s one thing Paul Finebaum got dead wrong. While it is true that the Buffs and Coach Prime had a rough season back in 2023 with a 4-8 run, you still cannot deny the fact that the stats that Shedeur pulled that season are something extraordinary. While he did become the most sacked QB last year with a whopping 52 sacks, he also got in around 30+ touchdowns with 3200+ yards under his belt.

Aaron Torres put it back on his show: “If that is an overrated season, I think every QB in America would love to have that down season.” However, coming back to what Finebaum had said, If the Buffs are irrelevant, then why is Jerry Jones all head over heels for the young QB at Colorado? Well, NFL Rookie Watch brought us the news on August 12th that Cowboys owner Jerry Jones wants Shedeur on the team.

“Shedeur Sanders is reportedly a “top prospect” in the eyes of Jerry Jones (Cowboys owner), according to several NFL scouts,” Rookie Watch had mentioned in their post on X. It looks like Dak Prescott is going to have to say goodbye to his deal with the Cowboys because Shedeur is the “apple of Jones’ eye” and is the major reason why Dak ain’t getting a new contract any time soon.

While Dak has achieved big things for the team, like taking them to three divisional titles while also having a 90+ PFF rating in 2023, Cowboys fans know that he will still end up choking when he is needed the most. And now, with his contract rising upwards of $60 million, Jones would probably want a better and safer alternative. And Shedeur fits the bill. The main grip that everyone had with Shedeur was his problem with defending himself.

ESPN’s Jordan Reid pointed out in his scouting report that Shedeur is often too focused on making place and hence loses when he gets stuck in a triangle of defenders. However, Coach Prime has brought in Patt Shurmur this year, and hopefully, Patt will be able to teach Shedeur what to do in the pocket. If all goes well, then what Arrowhead Live mentioned on X back on August 4th would come true: “Cowboys will move mountains to draft Shedeur Sanders.”

Still, this raises another big question. We all know at this point that Shedeur will leave for the NFL draft next year, so who would Coach Prime bring in to fill the void he leaves for the Buffs?

48 touchdowns and 3000+ yards, along with getting the Most Accurate Passer title from Elite11. It ain’t no wonder why Julian Lewis is on everyone’s radar. While still committed to the Trojans, we got some news on August 2nd that things could be changing for JuJu. Philip Dukes, back on The Inside Scoop, mentioned that there is a high chance Lewis will find himself in the Buffs. “If I had to make a bet right now, I think Colorado has a lot of momentum,” Dukes had mentioned.

He as a replacement for Shedeur just makes sense. When Shedeur had a completion rate of around 69% last year, Lewis also managed to reach 66% along with a QB rating of 140. He has the speed and the accuracy; all he needs is Coach Prime’s guidance, and we are good to go. Let’s see how things unravel after 2024.
