Hold on! Isn’t Travis Hunter a Top 5 player in college football? Such suggestions are wild, considering he can light it up on offense and defense!
Last year with the Colorado Buffaloes, he only played 9 games but snagged a whopping 57 receptions. This year, everyone’s buzzing about him being a Heisman contender. But wait, what’s the deal with him being snubbed in next year’s draft predictions?
The 2025 NFL Draft is still months away, but “way-too-early” predictions are sparking debates. One such prediction comes from ESPN’s Matt Miller, who placed Hunter surprisingly low at No. 9 for the Arizona Cardinals in his 2025 NFL Mock Draft Top Picks. Miller even praised Michigan cornerback Will Johnson (ranked No. 3) as having the “best cornerback tape I’ve ever seen” while favoring him for the Broncos.

This snub has sparked vehement reactions from sports analysts. DNVR Sports’ Jake and RK couldn’t believe Hunter’s exclusion from the Top 5. A surprised Jake said, “The Broncos at 3 take Will Johnson… cornerback out of Michigan?” He clarified, “I think Will Johnson is a hell of a player, love him. But if the Broncos take a cornerback, and it’s not Travis Hunter in the top five of this draft, I will lose my mind. Literally might quit the NFL.”
Ryan Koenigsberg, too, chimed in, stating how one of their resident Broncos insiders believes Hunter is the most likely pick for the Broncos next year. RK added, “Honestly if you have the b***s to play Travis the way he’s supposed to be played, he makes perfect sense for Broncos.”

Even though some experts are sleeping on him, the DNVR Sports crew seems so sure that Hunter to Denver might be a real possibility.
Can Travis Hunter be the answer to Denver’s woes?
With the NFL Draft approaching, mock drafts are buzzing with predictions for the Denver Broncos. Most experts seem to have the Broncos landing at pick No. 3. Interestingly, DNVR Sports analyst Zac Stevens recently pointed out the Broncos’ need for both a “playmaking wide receiver” and a strong cornerback — a need that Travis Hunter, the two-way threat could perfectly fulfill.

Now, Hunter’s versatility makes him a dream come true for many Broncos fans. Their offensive line is shaky, and the futures of the receivers, Tim Patrick and Courtland Sutton, are uncertain. Defensively, key linebackers Jonathan Cooper, Baron Browning, and DJ Jones are all approaching free agency. Apart from that, on offense, Hunter’s potential connection with quarterback Bo Nix seems exciting.
Just like he did with Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders, Hunter could create a dynamic offensive duo in Denver, too. And let’s not forget the local angle— wouldn’t it be fantastic for a Colorado player like Hunter to suit up for his hometown Broncos?
