Travis Hunter is in full-on bulking mode! The two-way Colorado star is a shining example of dedication in every training and conditioning camp. Whether sweating it out at the gym or excelling at practice with the US Marine Corps or Navy SEALs, Hunter’s stamina and belief have always encouraged Dеion Sandеrs & Co. His performance during the swimming drill, where he outperformed Shеdеur Sanders—who was “about to die,” as Dеion Sandеrs Jr. humorously put it—is a clear indication of his commitment.
The Buffaloes’ special instructor said at the start of the strength and conditioning session, “We’re not going to put you in any position of danger at all, but you’re going to be put well outside of your comfort zone… on purpose.” And well, Shedeur Sanders sure looked like he was out of his comfort zone as he waded through the water, carrying his backpack, looking absolutely exhausted, so much so that he had to sit by the pool to take a break.
Watching his brother run out of breath so quickly, Dеion Jr. couldn’t help but laugh. “Hеy, Shеdеur’s about to die. That boy gotta sit there and think about it. Look at him! That boy tirеd as hell.” On the other hand, Travis Hunter looked fresh as a daisy, and Uncle Neely may have just revealed why. On the June 29 episode of Thee Pregame Network, host Telly Carr asked Uncle Neely for an update on the CU strength training regimen.

“One of the things that Coach Prime is trying to stress is, ‘Don’t compare this team to last year’s team because it is a totally different team.’ I can’t help, from an eye test, look at where we are now compared to where we were this time last year,” Neely said. As the star players of the team, Shedeur and Travis’ fitness is critical in the run-up to the beginning of the season. With the season opener just two months away, Unclе Nееly couldn’t help but praise both of them while paying special attention to Hunter’s mega transformation.
“How would you rate Shedeur’s arm right now?” asked Carr. While it may not have seemed that way in the swimming session, Neely revealed, “Better. More accurate. [He was] already passing with 75, 80%, and that’s gone up. The players are getting to do player-led practices, and they can work out on their own. So, you get to see his arm strength and accuracy with those new receivers.” That’s when he mentioned the two-way’s transformation. “I would say the only thing that has overshadowed the advancement of Shedeur Sanders in the offseason is the advancement of Travis Hunter.”
Alluding to the remarkable muscle mass Hunter gained during his time in the training room, Deion Sanders’ confidant believes the receiver looks promising. “Travis has put on 17 pounds of muscle. He’s faster, leaner-looking, but bigger-looking. So this training and conditioning session for both the star players has been off the charts.”

Travis Huntеr got criticized for his “slow” footwork
Hunter is not just getting ready for this season; he has a whole draft event ahead of him next year. Therefore, he, Shedeur, and Shilo are working together for not one but two goals in their careers at the moment. However, NFL Rookie Watch recently criticized Hunter’s footwork, interpreting it as “slower” than the 2024 draft wide receiver Ladd McConkey.
They posted two clips from the practices of Hunter and McConkey on X, captioning the post, “The difference between Travis Hunter and Ladd McConkey’s footwork is INSANE. That white boy can MOVE.” While Hunter’s form was slower than that of the former Georgia wide receiver, let’s not forget that, unlike McConkey, Hunter plays both sides of the ball. He is as good as a cornerback and wide receiver for the Buffaloes.

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill replied to the post, writing, “they both nice,” praising both their forms. So, it’s safe to assume that Hunter’s impressive strength training and muscle gain will improve his speed and form on the field this upcoming season. After all, that praise came from ‘The Cheetah’ himself.
