Travis Hunter building his brand—Is he the next big thing in sports entrepreneurship?

It’s almost wild to see that Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter, who are just 22 and 21 respectively, are already millionaires at an age when the average American is only dreaming of such numbers. The funny part is that they’re not even professional athletes yet, and still their financial wealth outweighs the success of several NFL players in the present day and time. As of today, they aren’t any close to stopping building their mountain as both Shedeur and Travis look to be opening their own brands.

Shedeur Sanders, the QB for the Colorado Buffaloes, leads On3’s list of top 100 athletes in terms of their NIL valuations. The $4.8 million quarterback recently announced the release of the ‘SS2LEGENDARY’ brand, which is a play on his own name and jersey number. The apparel brand has already garnered over 10K followers on Instagram and it looks like Travis is also trying to tread the same path as his teammate. The dual-way Hunter also announced the release of his apparel partnership with a renowned sock brand, which seems to be heavily inspired by Shedeur’s idea.

The Colorado prodigies continue to shine bright both on and off the gridiron as Travis takes a page out of Shedeur’s book and reveals his latest partnership with ‘Rock ‘Em Socks’. To put things in perspective, the brand is one of America’s biggest sock companies and is estimated to have an annual revenue of approximately $3.2 million.

Travis took to Instagram to release a series of images that showcased the drop. His caption read, “We proudly present the Travis Hunter “I’M HIM” apparel collection @db3_tip x @RockEmSocks” More so than a partnership, Travis is also releasing apparel in his own name, which implies that the WR is establishing his own brand under ‘Rock ‘Em Socks.’ It looks like the ‘SS2LEGENDARY brand will be competing against Hunter’s ‘IM HIM’ apparel, making the competitiveness between Shedeur and Travis deeper for the upcoming season. With all that said, here’s a look at what Travis Hunter’s valuation is and what other entrepreneurial partnerships he’s a part of.

As the 2024 season approaches, Travis Hunter could very well be one of the most-watched players this year. He made it onto the cover of the College Football 25 game and is currently being predicted to be a Heisman Trophy winner, as per the fans. With this season ready to either make or break Hunter’s career in the NFL, he seems to be safe on the financial grounds with an NIL valuation of over $2.6 million.

As per On3’s list, Hunter stands right behind Livvy Dunne and Arch Manning in the number 4th position and besides an astounding valuation, Hunter has stretched his sights to a lot of brand deals as well. Hunter’s previous NIL deals in the past have included the names of NXTRND, SoHoodie, NorthFace, 7-Eleven, and the most recent being, Rock ‘Em Socks, through which he might go on to build his own brand of ‘IM HIM.’ Thus, both Shedeur and Travis are trying to solidify their legacies outside the football field which could prove to be a risky move if they can’t walk the walk when the time comes to step up to the challenge this season.
