The CU Buffs are set to ace the spring practice session. The major developments in Deion Sanders’ roster is the start of something major, something that holds all the power to bring redemption to the previous season’s 4-8 record as it brought out the fundamental losses in the Buffs losses, the primary ones being defense. The Buffs QB got sacked the most in the nation, 52 times to be precise, highlighting the basic flaws in the Buffs’ defense.

Critics made sure to not let Deion Sanders forget about the Buffs’ weak defense, and he did not. Keeping in line with this, Coach Prime made sure to forge his new defense accordingly. Hence, the ‘transfer portal king’ used the best of his powers to collect the best of the defensive recruits and transfers across the nation to form a bulletproof defense. However, the defense revamp is not over yet. Another player to upscale the Buffs defense has caught the eyes of Deion Sanders and Co. and it is none other than Texas A&M sophomore free agent Jacoby Matthews. Matthews is planning to enter the transfer portal, and Prime to Colorado has predicted Colorado Buffs to be a perfect landing spot for him.

The 5-star safety coming out of Ponchatoula High School scored 43 total tackles, 32 solo, 10 assisted half sacks, and one interception in the 2023 season among the 11 games he played. The best part about him is his massive physique. The 6 foot 2, 215 pounds safety would be the seamless fit into the Buffs’ defense, as they could highly leverage from some massive players on their defensive line. In this department, the Buffs have stacked up their defensive line pretty well with the recruits they have made.

Deion Sanders’s and Co’s defensive line

Recently, the Buffs suspended DT Bishop Thomas re-joined CU’s spring roster, about which Coach Prime is yet to give an official statement. However, the addition of a seasoned player like Thomas would be something beneficial for Deion Sanders and Co as they plan their defensive strategies for the next season. Along with him, the Buffs have made some lavish recruits in the defensive line.
DJ McKinney out of Oklahoma, SMU transfer Taurean Carter, and Alabama transfer Anquin Barnes are seasoned players lining up the defense, with young talents out of high school like 3-star edge Amontrae Bradford, 3-star DL Eric Brantley, 3-star DL Omar White, and 4-star DL Brandon Davis-Swain ready to polish their skills. With a solid-looking defense like this, Deion Sanders and Co. can expect much less on-gridiron mistakes from their defense in the next season. What do you think? Let us know in the comments below!
