What is happening? CU players don’t seem happy with Deion Sanders and it is not related to football. A source has claimed that the Colorado Buffaloes’ head coach “forced” his players to attend the Lil Wayne concert during Prime Weekend. Why would Sanders do something like this?

It seems his purported intention was to make his players attend the concert to “support Shedeur as a rapper” who opened with his new song, Perfect Timing. Coach Prime has flatly denied the allegations saying they’re “lies.” Among the defenders is CU Buffs governor Camden Dempsey, who is confident enough to testify to the rumor’s falsity.

Dempsey expressed his thoughts on a post concerning Coach Prime’s supposed manipulation of his players. He wrote, “Yeah, all I can say is this is 100% false- we were never “forced” to go to this concert. We are a team that supports all of our players, but this is just crazy. Might want to find a better source.”

The news was first broken by Steve Corder of Athlon Sports. He reported that Coach Sanders made the concert mandatory for the Buffs players and even threatened to dismiss those who chose to skip it. The event took place at the University of Colorado Boulder after the Buffaloes’ spring game on April 27. It was a star-studded event and the five-time Grammy Award winner, Lil Wayne, was the main attraction.

As reported by Corder, one source shared that the concert was “the final straw for a few players who hit the transfer portal.” The source further added, “When Coach Prime told us we all had to be there to support Shedeur as a rapper, they were not happy at all. To be honest, it was nothing but a huge distraction and Daddy Ball was being played.”

To counter these allegations, Buffs WR Jimmy Horn Jr. also added his reaction laughing at the false narrative as he wrote, “They funny asf.” Deion Sanders Jr., who appeared alongside Shedeur Sanders during the opener at Lil Wayne’s concert, also took to his father’s defense. Coach Prime has received significant support from multiple media outlets and analysts, which is a major setback for both Corder and Athlon Sports. It’s not just Dempsey who is accusing the company of promoting a false narrative.

Deion Sanders found a lot of support!

Criticism may be never-ending, but the support that Coach Prime receives from Colorado is admirable. After the rumor spread, Buffs’ Mat Smith revealed his take on the incident. He posted on X, “Had several folks reach out trying to confirm Deion making concert “mandatory” per article’s claims. First, that’s entirely false, every player received free tickets and were fired up about it. No one was “forced” to attend.”

There’s a slim chance that college students would want to miss out on a free Lil Wayne concert. After making the clarification, Smith also criticized the platform, stating, “@AthlonSports should take this down and retract it.”

Shedeur Sanders released his first single ‘Perfect Timing’ last month. What was it about? Well, the Colorado QB surely likes shiny things and that’s what the song pointed out. He rapped about his jewelry and some lines mentioned how he “stay shinin'”. He also rapped about a “new Maybach, I stay grindin’.”

Shedeur picked quite a specific time to release the song, considering the big rap feud going on between Drake and Kendrick Lamar. However, it also seems like he is following his father’s steps. Remember Deion Sanders’ ‘Must Be The Money’? It was released in 1994 and he rapped about ‘feeling himself’.

The lyrics went like this:
Diamond Rolex with gators on my feet
I got two pair for every day of the week (And my hair)
My hair is done, my fingernails, too
Six buttons down and I don’t know what to do, must be the money

Clearly, Shedeur is inspired by his father to wear a variety of hats. Do you think the young QB should continue releasing more music?
