Jim Harbaugh is headed to the LA Chargers to pursue his dream of a Super Bowl in the NFL. The LA Chargers’ fans have been ecstatic all week long after hearing about Harbaugh’s arrival. In light of all this, Harbaugh’s former RB teammate talked about what the team can expect after Harbaugh takes over.

The LA Chargers have only ever made it to the Super Bowl once – in the 1994 season – and even then, they lost the title to the San Francisco 49ers. But all that is about to change with Harbaugh’s incoming. At least, that’s what Marshall Faulk thinks. He sat down with Rich Eisen and elaborated on Jim Harbaugh’s mentality and propensity to change a team’s culture.

The Chargers’ “lax culture” will be gone with Jim Harbaugh in charge

As Jim Harbaugh gets ready to wield the might of the LA Chargers, Faulk seems to have his back. The former running back for the Indianapolis Colts shared his insight on what kind of coach Harbaugh is and why the players should buckle up for a huge change soon to come their way. When Eisen asked him what the Chargers would look like under Harbaugh, he explained, “Understanding that the culture with the Chargers the last couple of years was a very lax culture.” That’s not going to be the case anymore.

“That’s about to be gone,” said Faulk. “And the guys on that team who aren’t willing to sacrifice and work hard? They will be gone. Just watch. I’m telling you.” Per the former running back, the team will be built around the players who’ll give their all. And his former teammate will ensure that. “The guys who really want to win by working hard and going out there and laying it all on the line, they’re going to go out and compete. It’s just what he’s done. He creates a winning culture.”

Jim Harbaugh joins the Chargers as they come off the back of a very tough 2023 season. While they expected to compete against the Kansas City Chiefs for the AFC West title and make it to the playoffs, they ended their season at the bottom of their conference. And the record was an abysmal 5-12. However, now that they have Jim Harbaugh on board, Marshall Faulk is confident he’ll make a difference. After all, that’s what he’s done at every stage of his career. “Everywhere he’s been, when he left, it was a better place than it was before he got there.”

Considering this past season, there’s no doubt Harbaugh will be looking to do precisely what Faulk explained. He’ll be determined to change the “lax culture” into a winning one. Every player ready to navigate that challenge with him will weather the incoming storm. And those who don’t? Well, if what Faulk said is anything to go by, they’ll be shown the door.

As Jim Harbaugh gears up for this new challenge to guide the Chargers to glory, there could very well be a chance he’ll come face-to-face with his brother. Again. But unlike last time, when they faced off in the Super Bowl, they could be the ones standing in each others’ way to reach the Super Bowl. However, John Harbaugh only looked at the bright side.

The Baltimore Ravens’ HC, John Harbaugh, is a renowned name in the NFL. He has only won the Super Bowl once in 2013, which, ironically, was against Jim Harbaugh’s San Francisco 49ers. Now that Jim has returned to the NFL, the matchup between the two brothers will surely be a teeth-clencher. In response to Jim’s signing, John had to say this.

“My thoughts are, we play them next year,” he said. “We’re looking forward to all of it. I’m just very happy for him, proud of him, excited for him, excited for his family. My mom and dad told me he called back in the evening, and he found out all of his kids, starting with Addie and Katie, had their bags packed already. They were ready to go. So they’re excited too. It’s going to be great, well-deserved.”

After calling him “the best team builder in football right now,” John carried forward that sentiment. “I’ll say this. The Chargers just got themselves one great coach.” Moreover, the two brothers will face off in the upcoming season, and it is destined to be a game for the ages.
