Oh no! The Colorado Buffaloes’ championship hype train seems to have taken a detour. Media poll results are here, and things do not look great for Deion Sanders’ program.
Forget the Top 5; the media poll results picked the Buffs to finish 11th out of 16 teams. On the DNVR Buffs podcast, however, Ryan Koenigsberg stood out from the crowd as he pointed out the mass media’s misconceptions about Colorado. In another analysis, the podcast host, On3 analyst J.D. PicKell, believes Deion Sanders and his team will make the Big 12 dreams come true by clinching the title.
The poll involved 61 media members, who jointly decided that Deion’s Buffs would finish at No. 11. Colorado seemingly failed to earn the voters’ trust despite bringing back preseason All-Big 12 quarterback and defensive player Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter. Koenigsberg comes with a detailed take on the conference poll results. Going by the list, Utah is projected to be at the top, with high hopes of winning the title with 20 first-place votes, Kansas State having 19 votes, and Oklahoma at the third spot with 14 first-place votes. The other two are Kansas and Arizona, with five and three first-place votes, respectively.

However, the DNVR Buffs podcast co-host stands firmly because the Colorado Buffaloes can compete with the programs that are lucky to receive the first-place votes. “I think it’s a four team race between Utah, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, and Colorado,” Koenigsberg confidently claimed. The co-host tried to pinpoint that many negative perceptions about Deion’s Colorado that have plagued the hearts of college football fans had immediate repercussions in the conference poll results.

But again, RK is confident that their fallacies will soon be rejected. He then comes up with a bold claim, “There is just this wide Gap and the people who don’t like Colorado aren’t paying attention. They think it’s a clown show. They think it’s a joke, they think it’s all for clicks, it’s all just a song and dance and because of that they just ignore what’s going on and I think they’re going to regret it.” Interestingly, PicKell, too, walks on the same path as RK.
Analysts express optimism regarding Deion Sanders’ Colorado
On June 4, FOX Sports’ Joel Klatt appeared as a respite for Colorado fans as he revealed a daring prophecy, “There’s a chance that Colorado is competing to go to the Big 12 Championship game.” It was enough for On3’s analyst PicKell to take it up on his podcast, and he, too, concurred with the claim. On June 24, on The Hard Count podcast, the analyst took up a tweet by JT Sports that read, “What if Deion wins the Big 12?” Like RK, PicKell too staunchly trusts that the people behind the poll results would regret their decision soon.

He said, “If this happens, make no mistake… Deion gets the last laugh. He would and we’ll come back to the videos where we have questioned their process and questioned the portal and questioned the recruiting strategy and all that and we’ll say we were wrong.” But what made these analysts trust the process?
It might be because Deion Sanders evolved to be the greatest protector of Shedeur, aiming for a successful 2024 season. He has bolstered the O-line with five-star recruits Jordan Seaton, Tyler Johnson, and Justin Mayers. More than that, Travis Hunter is at the peak of his physical strength and would go to any extent to mark the end of his college season beautifully by bringing home the SEC title.
