Shedeur Sanders’ latest accomplishment sparks debate! The Phil Steele College Football Preview has been released, and the Buffs’ quarterback and teammates have made a considerable impact.

The internet is buzzing as the “highly respected prognosticator” unveiled his best picks this year. Ahead of the Big 12 start, Buffs fans were excited to see seven of their stars on the list.

Phil Steele’s 2024 Preseason Teams feature Shedeur Sanders on the second team alongside wide receiver LaJohntay Wester. Alongside these offensive stars, the team’s new defensive lineman, Dayon Hayes, is also on the second team. On defense, Shedeur’s brother, safety Shilo Sanders, and defensive lineman BJ Green secured spots on the third team. Even the Buffaloes’ punter, Mark Vassett, made it to the fourth team.

But wait, where’s Buffaloes star player Travis Hunter? Don’t worry, as the two-way threat not only made it to the first team but also landed on two of Steele’s lists — one on the “All-American” special teams as an “all-purpose” star, then in the “defense team” as a cornerback — showcasing his versatility. LaJohntay Wester also joins him on the special team.

However, the celebration seems quite bittersweet. Now, quarterback Shedeur Sanders, despite making the second team, is missing from the coveted “All-American” list. This has stirred up a lot of emotion online among fans, with many passionately arguing that Shedeur deserves the recognition.

Fans defend Shedeur Sanders after preseason snub

The Colorado Buffaloes’ official Instagram account buzzed after proudly announcing their players’ recognition in Phil Steele’s College Football Preview. But what started as a celebratory post quickly turned into a heated debate over quarterback Shedeur Sanders’ placement.

Fans erupted in fury over Shedeur’s second-team ranking with comments like, “How tf is one of the proven best quarterbacks in the nation on the 2nd team? Confused,” and “They just disrespectful to #2,” flooded the post. Some fans even staged a playful protest, declaring “2ND TEAM BETTER THAN 1st TEAM” — a sentiment fueled by the strong offensive duo of Shedeur and receiver LaJohntay Wester.

Some also felt Shedeur deserved to be on the coveted “All-American” special teams alongside Wester. Comments like, “Weather [Wester] and shedeur 2nd teams is nasty work. Both easily 1st team,” expressed their disappointment. Adding fuel to the fire, another fan questioned, “Shedeur and bj green on 2th & 3rd team is crazy,” implying a potential snub of multiple Buffs players.

Amidst the furious comments, one questioned, “Who they got over Shedeur tho?” It looks like Georgia’s Carson Beck might have edged out Shedeur for the top spot, the same as in mock drafts. Will Shedeur use this perceived “disrespect” as motivation to silence his doubters?
